From Our Family to Yours

... Is this a new expression?

Everywhere I look on social media I keep seeing it in relation to Merry Chrismas or Happy Holidays (I work with lots of US companies so I'm used to this one)

From Our Family to Yours

... A lot of time they are companies saying this. It is just me or is it a cringey expression? Is it new?

Not new, I've seen it in previous years.

NoParticularPattern · 27/12/2019 19:29

What’s wrong with it? Isn’t it just a less wordy generic version of “to XYZ, love from A, B, C and D”?

misspiggy19 · 27/12/2019 19:30

Don’t see anything wrong with it

EL8888 · 27/12/2019 19:31

Makes me want to vomit! It’s very cringe inducing

GruciusMalfoy · 27/12/2019 20:21

It seems like everything anyone says (especially on social media) is likely to make at least one person cringe. It's a bit twee, and I don't say it, but this one goes over my head.

doadeer · 27/12/2019 20:28

@MamImHere no im sorry please don't be embarrassed I meant really when companies say it rather than actual families!

I have a large enough family.

Saves me writing every ones name.

AWhat I have come to realise with the increase in internet use pretty much everything I do, say or own will be shit or twee to someone on the planet.

So now I dont really give a fuck anymore. I chose to say, post and buy things I want to.

TrashPanda · 27/12/2019 20:32

My Dad was on card writing duty this year as Mum hasn't been well and she usually does it. My cousin sent a picture of a card addressed to 'Cousin & DP' from 'Mum name, Dad name & the rest xx' Grin

lidoshuffle · 27/12/2019 20:54

If it's a printed greeting (rather than a personal one written knowing who it's going to) it's rather presumptuous. What if the recipiant doesn't have a family? It's very excluding.

user1496146479 · 27/12/2019 21:28

Hmm If you don't want it for sending to a family, simply don't buy that card!!

Tanfastic · 27/12/2019 21:30

I've seen this all over social media this year. Can't say I've seen it that much before.

holly40 · 27/12/2019 21:45

Is it an American thing?
I have also seen it on social media a lot the last few years.

IRememberSoIDo · 27/12/2019 21:49

I don't particularly like it as a saying. Our parents were similar to a pp and it used to be from X, Y and "the lads" being the six kids, mostly female funnily enough yet collectively known as the lads.

doadeer · 27/12/2019 22:17

I've only seen it on Facebook and LinkedIn not on cards
