To ask how much you spent at Disney World

posting for traffic

Off to Disney world in March and I'm wondering how much spending money is enough for a family of 5 (2 adults, DC 6, 11 & 12)

We have a meal plan with 2 meals a day and 2 snacks

How much did you take and spend when you went?

I budgeted around $300 per day for two adults (no dining plan). You can also ask for ice water at the parks which is free, rather than buying expensive bottles of water.

Bunnybaubles · 28/12/2019 14:53

There are all you can eat pizza buffet restraunts outside the parks called Cici's. We fed 2 adults and 2 grown up children for $15 total.

turkeymaster · 28/12/2019 15:18

@Bunnybaubles will look into that thanks! We all love pizza and want to venture out of the resort for a while too! Thanks

@turkeymaster we did - we wanted to do everything because it was the only time we'd do it.

Except we loved it so much we're going back a year later 🤦🏻‍♀️

Goldwispa · 28/12/2019 16:04

We spent 700 when we went for two weeks, we had the same meal plan as you. We brought some gifts and had a night out and a few taxis and purchased baby food/ milk. The meal plans are great and the snacks are huge so you'll be fine. You will
Probably only spend money on bottled water and drinks in the park. You get tea coffee soft drinks with your meal

Bunnybaubles · 28/12/2019 20:25

@turkeymaster you can get loads of great money off vouchers, 2 for 1 deals, kids eat free etc on lots of different types of restraunts outside the parks. There are great money off vouchers for entertainment aswell for outside the parks.

I highly recommend Dave and Busters. It's an arcade centre (way better than anything in the uk!!!). It has a bar on the floor too surrounded by big screan TVs, parents can watch their kids while having a drink (always take ID tho or they wont serve you alcohol). They do a 2 for 1 offer, I think on wednesdays. It says which day on their website. So kids get double the fun!

Also Ripleys Believe it or Not museum was awesome. Lots of weird and wonderful interactive stuff to do which the kids will love. I think it's on international drive. I recommend exploring here!

I can also recommend Pirates Cove. Its mini golf, the course is amazing!! Especially at night.

And of course Disney Springs. That's where I got engaged Grin

We also didn’t bother buying bottled water, we just asked for iced water at any of the kiosks and filled out bottles with those. We did take a small diluting juice as well.

With food, remember that American portions are huge! We ended up sharing quite a few quick service meals and they will let you swap stuff (for example when we ate in the resort where we had refillable mugs, we were able to swap the quick service drink for a dessert).

If you are going outside of disney for the day then you can get snacks and drinks as a snack credit to take with you which saves money. We honestly spent next to nothing on food, by the end of the two weeks We were struggling to look at food!

EKGEMS · 29/12/2019 22:46

Approximately $5,000 US dollars for three people spent one week at a moderate resort on Disney property no dining plan and a sit down meal with daily reservations made ahead of time. Our room was within feet of one of three pools and a laundromat at our resort (Port New Orleans Riverside)

EKGEMS · 29/12/2019 22:47

Airfare included

LGY1 · 30/12/2019 09:49

When this is a snack there is plenty of food!!
We usually get a snack for breakfast (pastry or pretzel in the park) or at POR they did a breakfast croissant which had bacon, cheese and scrambled egg, with tator tots - I think it was about $7 and was big enough to share between two adults and a toddler!! They also do amazing hot chocolate which is free in your resort mugs so that makes a good breakfast!
Please make sure you book all your meals ASAP!

Have a look on YouTube for “best value snack credits” there are loads of videos, you can familiarise yourself before you go on what you are looking for.
As others have said, don’t use a snack credit for water or fizzy drinks, take a trip to Walmart or just ask for the free water.
If you are taking a bag you can also fill up your resort mugs before you go.

LGY1 · 30/12/2019 09:52

Also we never eat a snack to ourselves, they are so big we always share between two. So think of it more like 4 snack credits each per day Wink

TreeSwayer · 30/12/2019 10:04

I am scan reading this as I am heading out, firstly TheDibb forum boards, incredibly friendly and helpful. www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/index.php

Secondly, check out a Dibber's food report for Quick Service only (we have only ever done this because I want to eat when I want, not what I thought I wanted 6 months before I get there) www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1013966

For all things POR (Port Orleans Riverside) go on their unofficial website www.portorleans.org/ it will show you what is on, menus, photos, etc etc.

We have stayed at POR several times, it is our go-to Disney resort and we love it.

Food portions are huge, even snacks. We didn't spend any money and always had left over. If you want to see what a single credit gets you pizza wise, Blaze pizza at Disney Springs you are allowed a pizza with as many toppings on as you want for 1 credit, this includes a drink. This family is British and shows you them ordering it.

Obviously, we love it which is why we go back. Please use the FastPass system, you don't have to queue, it is free and will make your holiday more enjoyable. Have a great time.

MsMellivora · 30/12/2019 10:41

We didn’t do a dining plan, had lunch a couple of times and ate off site in the evenings. We did stay in a Disney resort but also hired a car . We didn’t fancy being tied to a plan.

Ash39 · 31/12/2019 17:07

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but there's a company called "garden grocer" which is an online grocery store that you can order in advance of your holiday. We tried this. Ordered fresh milk yoghurts/breakfast/packed lunch stuff to keep in our fridge, plus soft drinks and beers. They delivered in advance of us arriving, the porters put the food in the fridge for us. So handy. It meant we could eat and run as we always wanted to be at the park early without queuing for a breakfast.
Not the cheapest, but so convenient
