Not quite AIBU but not sure where to post and I am definitely BU in running up a big bill buying/renting films from amazon prime.

If your household watches a lot of movies, how do you do this without it costing a lot?

I've just got a tv for the first time in many years, which I'm absolutely delighted with and as I now live on my own I usually put a film on most evenings.

I've watched all the ones in interested in that are included with Netflix and amazon prime, but for various films I've always wanted to watch, they're maybe £3.50 a time to rent.

I'd be grateful if you could tell me the most cost effective way to watch lots of films as I'm trying to cut costs/downgrade everything and I don't want to be spending £15 a week on movies!

I have both and I find Prime to be shite for films over Netflix

It has the advantage of an extensive Instant Library but the majority of it is In Store Purchase and not included in Prime

The interface is also deliberately difficult, pushing you to pay for extras, whereas with Netflix anything offered onscreen can be watched without paying more.

Netflix - really reasonable. You can get 4 screens for around £8.99 a month. Or one screen for less. Our grandson pays for 4 screens and has put it on our tv. but we would willingly pay ourselves

NowTV is pretty good. All the new filns come up on there as they are released on the Sky movies channels. It's £12 a month for the movies bit, and I think £8? For the entertainment if you want that too. You can get a TV stick or little set top box, for about £30 and it usually comes with the first couple of months subscription on it. Also, you can start and stop it, no contract so you can have a one off month here and there if you want.

Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. I watch box sets mostly, if I wanna watch a specific film I search for it on these three and if it’s not included I wait as they tend to rotate what movies are included with each service.
