To be annoyed with myself

I always waste my time and never do any revision then feel so down when i get bad grades
For these holidays i said i would do a topic a day in order to get on top of my work.
Yesterday i did not (don't celebrate christmas) and i did nothing today as well.
its annoying because i have my real a-level exams in 5 months and im failing rn despite doing well in my GCSE's i just have no motivation.

Well, how much do you want it?

Nobody can do it for you. As soon as you get up tomorrow, do some study. You'll feel better about yourself this time tomorrow.

It's up to you.

I think a topic a day sounds a lot. Try to ensure you have free days to make it more manageable. Also do short bursts of frequent revision to maximise concentration. Good luck!

Ok well that’s only 2 days you didn’t revise. Start tomorrow and once you’re in the momentum will keep you going.

Just a brief word - caffeine does not help you revise - yes it's good for pulling an "all nighter" to craft an essay where all the facts and figures are in front of you but it is not much use for helping you commit things to memory / revision. If you're tired, go to bed early. Determine when you work best (typically mornings and evenings for most people apparently but we are all different). Get hold of past exam papers, revise those subjects, précis what you need to know - the act of making these notes will help cement the knowledge. Add to your body of knowledge each day but also go over the material from all the previous days. It gets easier but procrastination won't help. Within two to three weeks, you'll have mastered a huge amazing if you work diligently and don't just kid yourself. Just reading through the material on its own probably won't help - you need to make notes, draw out the main points etc. Good luck!

That's the point of caffeine - an instant high followed by a dulling of the senses. It doesn't help. Why can't you revise at home? I used to revise a bit, then walk around the room speaking aloud what I've just learnt - really fast - and then check for anything missed and repeat. We're all different but writing something out and saying it aloud all help cement the information in your brain.

livinlife · 27/12/2019 00:26

@msmith501 I can revise at home but there is just more distractions because my siblings are around, I will just sit and watch YouTube. Whereas in a library I see everyone else working and I also have no distractions
