To think you can't buy a fresh turkey a week before Xmas and expect it to keep?

I was always taught that if you buy fresh meat from the supermarket, regardless of the use by date, that if you're not going to eat it within a day or so, it's best to freeze the meat.

I've seen loads of news articles about fresh turkeys bought on 19th that have gone off. I wouldn't want to keep a fresh turkey that long.

Turkey farms start killing and plucking / gutting on the1st of December , they are kept in cold rooms until collected around the 23/23 - yuck - I don't have turkey for this reason

@sippingcoffee The same happens for all meat, not just turkeys.
