Or am I just one of the lucky ones

Am I just lucky or is sprout armageddon a myth? In my 10+ years of cooking Christmas dinner I am yet to come across the carnage that the big christmas shop supposedly brings.
I have lived in a big city and now a smaller one and not once have I had to tussle someone to the ground for the last bag of carrots or wait at the checkout for 5 hours like mumsnet and the media have us believe.
As usual I happily sailed in to the car park of my local big supermarket at 10am his morning and found a parking space near the front. I happily milled around collecting all of the stuff I need for tomorrow and the next few days with very little hassle. The only thing I couldn't get was a chocolate yule log. If only I had gone out at 3am yesterday morning, then just maybe I would have been able to get one. Oh well, christmas isn't ruined! Smile

It was every man for himself last night at my local market!

Don't know about the supermarkets because I'm a Christmas food snob but I went into our nearest city to get a couple of last minute bits today and the only place that was any busier than a normal Saturday was lush.

Some people are very stressed out by a few extra shoppers/‘the crowds’, it seems to send them into some sort of frenzy!
My mum and I were in the same supermarket at the same time. Her version of events is that is was ‘bedlam’ and the pavlova shells were very nearly sold out so Christmas was almost ruined. I thought it was a bit busier than usual but nice and festive. I located a pavlova near the berries in the fresh food section, because I asked a helpful staff member. Perspective!

My local Sainsburys was a lot less busy than other years. Found parking easy, free trollies, most shelves had stuff on them and only one person in front of me at the quick check tills.
