To write Christmas off

Dd is 5, ds is 3.

So far this Christmas holidays we have had to:

Cancel Santa because DD couldn't cope with not knowing every detail in advance and kicked off.

Had an overnight admission for DS has tested positive for flu, has crackles and patches on his test and what sounds the start of group.

Dd woke today with discharge oozing from her ear which looks like an ear infection.

Have made zero preparations, not wrapped presents or food sipped yet. It's all gone Pete tong.

Please tell me 5 year old won't remember how awful this year has been?

Another vote for pizza and movies, sounds perfect!

Cancel Christmas and have it on new year's day, we used to do that because of df working over Christmas.

DSis fondly remembers the year that DM and herself had to keep a careful eye out in the sky, and tiptoe back to bed, coming back from the Dr at 3am with a raging ear infection!! (35 years ago now!)

Don't worry. You can have a full on Christmas Day later. The Christmas when it all went wrong will be a funny story in years to come and at 5 your children won't really remember it for long.

If you are in desperate need for food, if Prime Now is available in your area you can order some bits on that for delivery in a couple of hours. They even have turkeys available for delivery in two hours and all the trimmings if you want a full dinner tomorrow!

I am really sorry to hear that. One year we went abroad for Christmas. We ended up opening Christmas presents on 22 December with a light up wand stuck in a plant pot as our Christmas tree! Honestly it didn't matter. We were travelling on Christmas day and had our family Christmas a few days later x
