Can I ask how much you spent on IVF / fertility treatment? How many rounds did you go for and did you successfully get pregnant and carry to term?

@Skysblue interesting, l have never heard of the Greek tests? I’m intrigued as we are unexplained infertility and always pass every fertility test. But have failed to conceive for over 1.5 years or with IVF so far

6 failed IUI and 2 failed IVF on NHS. Could have managed one private round but felt age was against me and didn't feel hopeful. Went on to adopt my beautiful son. For me personally by that stage it was more important to become a parent, rather than the method used to get there.

Three rounds £16k in total, plus two abandoned cycles at around £2k each, plus we had a vasectomy reversal before ICSI that cost £2k and didn't work hence the IVF.

Started at The Lister in London, very poor experience there and went to Guys after a recommendation and they were amazing, lovely staff and we self funded as we didn't qualify for NHS treatment. DD is now 12 and is worth every penny 🥰

I really appreciate these responses and know it’s not always easy to talk about. The variation is extraordinary and, whilst I expected there to be big differences, I did not appreciate to what extent. My ignorance of course. Congratulations to all those who have their children now, through all routes! And of course, good luck to all those currently on the journey.

Began nhs infertility stuff approx 11 years ago. One free round that didn’t work. One free fresh round that did and provided enough eggs to freeze.

Spent approx 350 a year to keep embryos frozen. Six years ago had frozen round at private cost of approx £1100 for the hospital side of it and about £600 on drugs which I got elsewhere as it was cheaper than the hospital pharmacy (think we used Asda). That worked too.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 27/12/2019 12:32

We spent £40k including drugs and exploratory surgery, 23 years ago. No NHS IVF then. 5 attempts at a Birmingham hospital that failed. one attempt with Professor Robert Winston which resulted in 3 good embryos being put back and we ended up with twins.

lucky313ven · 13/04/2020 13:22

Can anyone tell me what they payed for a transfer of a frozen embryo? Drugs etc included? We have 4 frozen from our first NHS round and want to know roughly how much it costs for a frozen transfer? UK not abroad
Thanks

ivfbabymomma1 · 13/04/2020 13:26

I paid £12,500 for the treatments, injections etc etc and then up to 3 rounds. It did luckily work first time so I don't get to use the other two rounds.

I have 7 frozen embryos now and it's £2000 to go again now the embryos are there.

ivfbabymomma1 · 13/04/2020 13:27

@sammi38 that's exactly who I used and what I did. And we have the same name 🤣

ivfbabymomma1 · 13/04/2020 13:30

@lucky313ven it would be £2k at my clinic all included!

TSSDNCOP · 13/04/2020 13:33

£30k, 6 rounds
