I appreciate I'm very lucky to have finished work on Friday. But it still feels like there is so much to do .......
Booze to be picked up
Shopping to finish
Pantry and fridges to clean so the food will fit
Food arriving tomorrow
Butcher to get to
Inevitably there will be bits missing from the shopping so back to the shops
Gifts to wrap
Family lunches to attend
Hairdresser appointments to attend
All the food to prep
I love the festive season - but it's so hectic !!

Anyone else?

OP posts:
insancerre · 22/12/2019 09:37

No
It’s just another day

I really don’t get the hype

Letseatgrandma · 22/12/2019 09:37

No pantry here and just the one fridge, I’ll probably be ok.

CakeandCustard28 · 22/12/2019 09:38

Nope. Just you.

TurnOffTheTv · 22/12/2019 09:40

I’m all done and having a relaxing weekend away!

notsohippychick · 22/12/2019 09:40

Not at all! It’s only as manic as you let it be. All the rings you’ve described are just very normal to me.

notsohippychick · 22/12/2019 09:41

Things!

Wilmalovescake · 22/12/2019 09:41

Surely one’s staff clean the pantry?
Dearie me OP.

Mulledwineinajug · 22/12/2019 09:41

Just you. None of that is necessary really!

EleanorLavish · 22/12/2019 09:41

Make a list and divide it up with others in the house, is that an option.
DH is always being handed a list to complete.Grin
Just make sure you factor in some 'sitting on my arse, eating something nice whilst watching something christmassy' time. Otherwise its all for nowt.

Parker231 · 22/12/2019 09:42

Everything is done. Waiting for flights to arrive with our Christmas visitors. DH and I are both working Monday and Tuesday.

itgetshardereveryday · 22/12/2019 09:42

Booze to be picked up - done
Shopping to finish - only turkey still to buy
Pantry and fridges to clean so the food will fit - done
Food arriving tomorrow - already got most of it
Butcher to get to - nope
Inevitably there will be bits missing from the shopping so back to the shops - dh and I wrote a list and he went to buy it all
Gifts to wrap - done and all in a spare room waiting to go under the tree on Christmas Eve
Family lunches to attend - going to mums on Christmas Eve before church, all organised.
Hairdresser appointments to attend - tomorrow morning, will only take 2 hours at the most.
All the food to prep - dh and I do it between us. There will be 8 adults, 3 children.

Are you doing everything for Christmas by yourself? Do you not have a partner? It doesn't feel like a big task when it's split in 2 tbh.

StillDumDeDumming · 22/12/2019 09:43

Oh you meanies. Lots of people feel like this. And then it all falls into place. What’s done is done and what isn’t is ok. I’m working up to close of Christmas Eve and have very little to do. But my fella does the cooking 😁

Gillian1980 · 22/12/2019 09:43

Yes, so much to do here.... mostly due to having just moved house.

Tree to go up.
Missing presents to locate in moving boxes and wrap.
Food to buy.
Try to clear enough of the chaos so we can sit in the living room, eat at the table and provide our guest with a bed.

notsohippychick · 22/12/2019 09:43

People get their hair done for Xmas? I need to do this!!!

ContessaLovesTheSunshine · 22/12/2019 09:43

Hairdresser? Is this a requirement now?!

notsohippychick · 22/12/2019 09:44

contessa cross post! Never occurred to me! LOL

YouTheCat · 22/12/2019 09:44

Booze is bought.
Meat is in the freezer.
Food shop coming today.
Buying veg tomorrow at some point.
A few gifts to wrap later.
Making pastry tomorrow for Christmas eve baking.
Baking on Christmas Eve, with sherry. Grin

Nothing major and am pretty organised anyway.

AhoyMrBeaver · 22/12/2019 09:44

Yeah, but you're obviously enjoying it really, so crack on.

notsohippychick · 22/12/2019 09:45

The one thing I hate is wrapping presents. I find it such a chore. The rest of it I quite like as I can do it child free. Food shopping etc. It’s like a spa day for me!

Northernlurker · 22/12/2019 09:45

Well op I haven't finished work. I'm working tomorrow and on Christmas Day. I have major food shopping to do, couple of bits to get, everything to wrap, a large house to clean, a sick child, a cake to ice, a garage to sort out and today is entirely taken up with prep for the carol service. So actually I think you just need to get on with it.

Apolloanddaphne · 22/12/2019 09:46

I am sitting with a cup of tea wondering what to do for the next three days as I have everything sorted apart from collecting the turkey and buying some nice cheese. This will be done tomorrow and will include coffee and cake at the deli shop. I am very relaxed and not stressed at all.

TheTinselrati · 22/12/2019 09:48

I had Christmas yesterday so I'm completely done Grin

10storeylovesong · 22/12/2019 09:49

Nope. I work all over the Xmas period so have to be organised. Most presents were bought and wrapped by 1st December. Just one fridge and normal cupboards which I clean out as food is used up. Online food shop organised for 23rd.

I'm off this weekend, so we nipped to the zoo yesterday and me and the kids are having a lazy day watching films today. I'll Potter round and clean while they play, and then normal swimming lesson this afternoon.

Safari Park and church Xmas eve, then a takeaway and a couple of glasses of wine while wrap the couple of last minute pressies.

At work 7am Xmas day.

No rushing round and stressing. It's one day, and my kids would much rather me spend my days off with them than making sure the house and table are Instagram perfect.

greenlavender · 22/12/2019 09:49

Sounds like small world problems compared to what struggles other people are currently having. Also quite self indulgent.

PineappleDanish · 22/12/2019 09:50

Just you, OP.

I have to pick up my food order at M&S tomorrow and might pop to Waitrose tonight as DD has decided she wants to make a huge gingerbread / Biscoff creation and we need things like treacle. DH will wrap while I'm out.

25th December comes around on the same date every year. If you leave things to the last minute, or overload yourself with non-essential fluff like hair appointments then that's your look out.
