AIBU about forty mins ago I had a bowel movement and the toilet was full of blood the water full of blood. Hubby looked and couldn't believe it. Should I go to A and E as NHS website says or am I being silly I feel a bit weak now after it thanks

Why on earth would someone ask on here instead of just calling 111 and asking them? They are the bloody signposters not MN ffs.

BlackCatSleeping · 22/12/2019 09:05

I can understand why you posted here. It’s good that you called 111 though. No one can diagnose you over the internet. Hope it’s nothing serious! Flowers

Toffeecakes · 22/12/2019 09:10

gingersausage because it’s nice to have reassurance maybe? She did phone 111.

Hope all is ok, OP.

Mabelface · 22/12/2019 11:54

I ended up in hospital for a couple of days after this happened to me. Colonoscopy later and diagnosed with diverticulitis. Get checked out.

Cacklingmags · 22/12/2019 12:20

I would go to A&E because a lot of dark blood. Also it is getting near to Christmas and if you need treatment eg for ulcerative colitis, you should have it sooner rather than later and don't want to be in A&E on Christmas Eve. Not sure what 111 can tell you without having a look.

foooookinghell · 22/12/2019 21:33

Hi all I'm ok thank you for all support xx

What was the outcome?

Ugzbugz · 22/12/2019 22:17

I've had that a few times with a fissure or piles as I barely poo....

AlexaAmbidextra · 22/12/2019 22:45

Bright red isn’t usually a concern, darker/black means it has travelled from further inside and more of a worry.

For the ninety thousandth time, can we stop this rubbish about bright red blood being harmless and dark blood being sinister? It is wrong, wrong, wrong but keeps getting trotted out on here.

MontyBowJangles · 22/12/2019 22:52

Glad you're OK OP. Did they find out the cause?

foooookinghell · 23/12/2019 18:07

I'm being referred for further investigation xx

I used to get that all the time with mild ulcerative colitis. Dr appt, 2 weeks for a specialist and diagnosis. Treatment quickly got it under control. Hope it gives you some hope that horrific symptoms can sometimes not be the thing yoy are dreading it could be x
