My mum has decided not to come to meal with my friends who dutifully invited her along as she doesn't work and her friends aren't great, now she saying she not coming, I'm paying no excuses?

But can afford to go bingo with said friends who I not very keen on! Eg one is just out of prison for something awful! And going to friends Boxing Day? So I left alone Christmas Eve evening and Boxing Day? Her friends are obviously more important!

Looked at finances she is bloody skint, doesn't help pet insurance is £650 month

Her income £1800 month includes lodger of £400.00

She going away to Devonin September and her house needs a lot of work, keeps saying it be last year then I save up to do stuff - total lies??!

AIBU to be cross

That is a ridiculous amount of money on pet insurance.

Why did your friends invite your mum to a meal out though, that’s bizarre?!

Finfintytint · 21/12/2019 13:20

Why are you insuring 25 year old Cat for that amount?

LIZS · 21/12/2019 13:26

Maybe she does not enjoy their company, her choice. Can you not make other plans for Christmas Eve and Boxing Day?

ddl1 · 21/12/2019 13:28

You are upset because your mum has undesirable friends (and they do sound a bit questionable), and seems to prefer their company to that of your friends? That sounds like the sort of thing one usually says about one's teenage kids! Unless your mum has cognitive impairments, I think you have to stay out of it, especially if she's not living with you. On the more specific issue: while she is not obliged to have a meal with your friends, yes, it is rather rude of her to cancel at the last minute.

onanothertrain · 21/12/2019 13:31

You're too involved in her life, you sound suffocating. She's your mum FFS, no wonder she's refused a pity invite from your friend Hmm.

12elve · 21/12/2019 13:38

MN is truly bizarre these days!

StinkyXmasCheese · 21/12/2019 13:42

The meal with friends is tonight that your mum doesn't want to go to?

What about Xmas day then? Will you spend the day with her then?

It's really ok if she doesn't want to go with your friend and friends parents. Tbh it's a bit weird.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking, this does make a huge difference if your 18 or 35.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 21/12/2019 13:44

@12elve isn't it just!

LuckyKitty13 · 21/12/2019 13:44

Wow that insurance for a 25 year old cat is insane! No one should be insuring a cat of that age... does not make ANY financial sense! Might as well burn money every month!

PortiaCastis · 21/12/2019 13:47

This is so bizarre it's hilarious Xmas Grin

Towrl · 21/12/2019 13:55

Lol Xmas Shock

HowlsMovingBungalow · 21/12/2019 14:02

Either this is a teen or a windup

christmasletdown56 · 21/12/2019 14:39

Ok pet insurance

Pet has pancreatitis, arthritis, high bp, kidney failure, thyroid issues, constipation issues due to the meds!

Cat is 25 years old
Goes into vets for rehydration once month 2/3 days, has bloods monthly! Sees vet monthly! Is on low fat food and dry food - insurances pays for it all!

Husky has injections once month by vet for allergies (100+ vet consult) and has heart murmur, liver support, pancreatitis, low fat diet - insurance!

Pug - 35 don't claim anything

Then flea worm nails 2 check a year, for all 3 - 36 month!

Time to move out and give yourselves some much needed space from each other.
