Usual disclaimer about light hearted etc. And I literally prepared like a Romcom set dresser with roaring fire, candles immaculate rooms right down to folded christmas pjs and slippers, Christmas playlist and supper ready. I love them to bits and am being nice!!
But would anyone care to join me with a checklist of petty gripes.
Random lights on ✔️
Constant soundscape of tinny podcasts with omg American ‘so, I’m like...’ ✔️
Water bottles everywhere ✔️
Lift requests which I don’t mind ✔️
Usually seen from behind as they critique the fridge (but still empty ✔️
Banging doors, not in anger, they’re just clutzy! ✔️
Utter disdain for the dishwasher ✔️
Chargers disappearing ✔️
They’ve been home less than 12 hours! We’ve not got to the crunchy floors and philosophical musings on our lives beliefs and jobs yet!

So far dd has been out to London about 20 mins from us and ended up at a house party in Hatfield, she rang me at 5am pissed asking how she got home. (I didn't collect her she got the train)

Next night out she arrived home sober but woke us all up making food in the kitchen at 2am.

I have pointed out that this isn't her student house

All of the above plus I now know every Beyoncé song ever written and it's abundantly clear who's using all the toilet paper.

can I add to it?

DS2 home for the first proper holiday, now has a girlfriend so we have the random driving over to see her, 12 miles of country roads that he's not familiar with and not telling me when or if he's coming home but not having a key either...

Driving her home late at night in the fog and being asked to take a key and still not taking one...

I keep saying to him that I appreciate that he lives away and doesn't have to answer to anyone, but at home I'm not happy that he doesn't let me know and I'm not happy to leave the house open for him all night.

Everything is broken, everything...well apart from things that are just lost.

Home one day and we had brken phone, broken laptop, ripped t-shirt, hole in arse of jeans, loads of odd socks, lost glasses (which funnuliy enough he needs to be able to see properly), and a request as to how to get the smell of sick out of a leather jacket.

However, his room is actually reasonably clean (cos, you know, girlfriend....Hmm)

Oh and I have no conditioner left and the drains are now clogged with hair.

Etinox, it sounds like you have worked very hard and it will all go well. Anyway one of mine has specialised since he was about 4 in telling me what some other mothers do and I don't mind - I am happy they will have a good Christmas. There will always be some other family which does things differently or better.

lol, this exactly!
I’ve bought drain unblocker especially.

DS has been back since Wednesday. He likes to cook- but by goodness he hates to clear up! My kitchen looks like a bomb has hit it every time he concocts a new creation. This morning it was curry spiced sausage rolls with mango chutney - and a yoghurt, mint and lemon dip to eat them with! He made his own curry spice mix - 8 assorted jars out of the cupboard. Thank goodness he was using up left over pastry and not making his own!

Blobby10 · 24/12/2019 17:18

@WaxOnFeckOff I’ve had this too 😂😂😂 her older brother complained and she did apologise but I’ve not been back to see if she cleared up after her latest shower 😂😂

They’ll get their stockings first thing when I wake up, I’ll be up first as they’re all out at the pub Midnight Mass.
