I dont regret my mortgages at all ! I own two properties and soon to be a third. All investment vehicles for my two sons
They will be paid off when I am 70 or when I die as I have a life pension - so never need to worry about paying them

YOLO!

I’m always amazed at people whose main aim in life is to ‘be mortgage free’. Lots of posts on here and articles on magazines etc about how people are mortgage free by 50 by not having holidays, only eating boiled eggs and toast etc. Sounds like a miserable existence to me.

We’ve just accepted an offer on our house and are about to double our mortgage to buy somewhere with a big garden, land, a stream etc. When I look back on the kids’ childhood, I want to remember them playing there rather than in a modest house somewhere which doesn’t suit us and can’t fit their friends in etc. Would knowing that I had paid off my mortgage mean more to me when I look back in 40 years? No.

Each to their own!

I don’t; we needed the space and even if we had more money each month it wouldn’t be worth feeling over crowded
