We've had a difficult year as I've been ill and awful financial problems because Universal Credit is such a struggle to get in place. Anyway, this morning I had someone from the Salvation Army drop some things by.

Tea, milk, sugar, baked beans, pasta sauce, pasta, tuna, tinned fruit and custard. Also some mince pies and a christmas pudding. I was also given an Asda giftcard with £20 to buy food with. I can't tell you the relief that I won't need to worry about feeding my children over Christmas.

They also brought over (unwrapped) gifts that I have wrapped up and put under the tree. A Ty cuddly mobile phone holder for my DS, a craft set for my DD and a board game as a joint present. There was even a nice notepad and drinks bottle which I have wrapped up for myself! There was also a selection box each Xmas GrinSo a massive thank you to everyone who donates food and gifts at Christmas. You have made lots of families so happy - it really means the world to us.

This makes me so happy to read. Not that you're struggling, obviously, but that this has made things a bit easier at a difficult time. Enjoy! ❤️

I’m glad these things brought you relief and some happiness OP. I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas and that things get easier so that 2020 is a better year for you BrewCake

I'm sorry that you've had a hard year and hope that 2020 will bring much better things for you and your family.

I'm a regular giver to the Salvation Army and I have the biggest smile, knowing that it really does make a difference. (Actually, it has brought a tear or two but don't let on: I have an image to keep up, you know Blush)

Wishing you all the very best for 2020 Smile

This made me cry. Thank you for writing it, you have inspired me to buy things/donate to the Salvation Army so you have indirectly given the same to another family.

Sending you all good wishes for Christmas and I hope that 2020 brings better times for you and your family.

Hopefully 2020 is a better year for you all.

I am awful for forgetting to pick up things for the food bank so I used the collection Ds school did as a chance to go and do a shop for some bits to send in, hopefully they can help brighten up Christmas for a few families.

This is excellent. Happy Christmas to you and the kids, OP and best wishes for the new year Flowers

Thank you for posting. We did a food collection at my office and I delivered the food collected off to Barnardos the other day. They were so grateful as they have so many needy families.
It's so good to hear that these donations have taken the pressure off you a bit.
I hope 2020 is a better year for you.

ParkheadParadise · 18/12/2019 17:33

Aw that's lovely.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
