Poland might leave the EU

Awful for all the Polish workers here who may well have to leave the UK when Brexit happens and then, if they leave the EU, won't be able to work elsewhere in the EU either.

What an awful situation for them to be in, all that uncertainty.

Corbyn didn’t unlawfully prorogue Parliament. Shutting up people’s representatives is a sure sign of a dictatorship.

onalongsabbatical · 17/12/2019 21:48

Well ‘exit’ in Polish is wyjścia, so how about Pojścia?

Larach · 17/12/2019 21:52

PoGo.

CatteStreet · 17/12/2019 21:53

Poles Apart

CatteStreet · 17/12/2019 21:58

seriously, there really isn't a quiet queue to leave. Of course Euroscepticism isn't just a British phenomenon (the odious AfD started out as an anti Euro party). But that doesn't equate to a wholesale desire to follow in the UK's dubious footsteps.

MidnightCircus · 17/12/2019 21:58

If they're being kicked out rather than leaving, it would be GoPo wouldn't it?

youllhavehadyourtea · 17/12/2019 22:00

Pout?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 17/12/2019 22:04

Poleaxed.
I don't think there will be an EU or the EU as we know by 2030.
Just a collective of trade deals, that's all.

AllergicToAMop · 17/12/2019 22:06

I assume rather than being kicked out they would just be denied vote. I forgot which article that is. I want to say 258 of TFEU in action, but not really 100% on that.Blush
Though they will not be denied anything or kicked out in reality, because Hungary and at leat one other will not vote for it. I don't think majority voting would apply in this matter

Longdistance · 17/12/2019 22:07

I would’ve thought Hungary had broken a few rules with Orbán in charge.

Agreed.

Loveislandaddict · 17/12/2019 22:09

Pexit,
Polexit,

Loveislandaddict · 17/12/2019 22:10

@onalongsabbatical, how would you pronounce that?
Pol- scia?

ChristmasConcert · 17/12/2019 22:12

@Tracybeakersoyeah I was about to say Poleaxed - it's clearly the only choice.....Grin!!!

viccat · 17/12/2019 22:14

OP, why are you saying Polish workers in the UK would have to leave the UK after Brexit? Everyone living here permanently at the moment is eligible to apply for settled or pre-settled status depending on how long they've lived here, no one is due to be sent home.

I'm an EU immigrant here (not Polish though) and I think lots of Brits still do think we'll all be kicked out come January... some will certainly be hoping for it.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 17/12/2019 22:14

Fucking hell, that's my only other chance of getting an EU passport.

MarilynMorose · 17/12/2019 22:15

@HunnyMummy1993 withdrawsaw 😂😂😂Xmas Grin

MidnightCircus · 17/12/2019 22:16

Doggodogington · 17/12/2019 22:17

So if Hungary leave its a Huxet? Or Hexit? We need to know these things! Somebody needs to ask the big questions!

Hirsutefirs · 17/12/2019 22:19

Crack-off.

Gdout!

onalongsabbatical · 17/12/2019 22:19

Dunno, I'm not Polish I just googled it! Grin

Wakaranaihito · 17/12/2019 22:19

I was reading about this today. Interesting how the headlines are written with little bearing on the actual substance.

There is a glee when some Brexit supporters tell you that all the other European countries will also leave and Europe will collapse.

Firstly, it doesn't bear out in the polls etc in other EU countries. In actual fact support for remaining in the EU got even stronger across the board. Secondly, if the EU did 'collapse' they are not even thinking of what they might mean for Europe in the future. We have had the longest period of peace in Europe since the formation - without it the risks are huge.

AllergicToAMop · 17/12/2019 22:20

Not just Brits. I've seen pockets of hysteria in some groups too (I too am EU immigrant). As much as I admire the 3million hard work the facebook group allows post which then get out in one way or another and panic people unnecessarily. It should be moderated bit more.

rhubarbarkle · 17/12/2019 22:20

Ireland voted out of the Lisbon Treaty until we were made vote again (within a year - democracy there you go down the toilet) with full propaganda machine in force and the masses bought into the propaganda and fear mongering.

RhubarbTea · 17/12/2019 22:21

It's definitely Plexit.
