To make a "pamper" basket for some close friends?

I've found a few great products recently and I was wondering if I made up a "pamper" basket for a couple of close friends of products and things I think are special and lovely if it will look thoughtful or just a bit weird / cheap? I was thinking of nice bath salts, face masks, herbal teas, maybe a book that sort of thing? Or would having lots of bits and pieces not from the same brand just look odd? I have bought some wicker baskets with packaging to make it look nice

These are close friends but our presents are usually modest - a scarf, book or small piece of jewellery.

I can’t see how this is unreasonable. Weird question to ask.

You know your friends best. Is that the kind of thing they would like? I mean, personally, I’m quite picky about what brands I like to use for beauty products, and some of what you gave me mighy end up in next year’s work raffle. But I wouldn’t think it was weird particularly.

Oh, and watch the amount of packaging you use. Baskets and cellophane May look pretty but they’re a bloody PITA.

I don't like baskets. What do you do with them afterwards? Also unless you know people will use the products in question...as in you know they like that brand...it's risky buying bath salts and things.

I won't use anything that's not organic and paraben free for example.

Also...herbal teas? Do they like herbal teas? If they do, a nice tea diffuser and a luxury tea might be better.

Yeah I know, I guess that's the question for me. these are all things I like - I'm not sure they will. I didn't know if it would be nice - here are some things I think are lovely, I hope you'll like them too - or whether it might just be annoying as they already have worked out what they like and it'll just be a load of stuff they'll regift.

No cellophane - one of the reasons for doing this is I'm trying to buy less and I thought buying consumables might be less likely to end in waste.

I think it's a nice idea, OP. There's nothing weird about putting different brands of things together. I would include a note saying these are all tried and tested things you love and you hope they'll enjoy them too.

Well a lot of people don't like herbal teas. I wouldn't...if you want them to like a gift, buy something you know they'll like.

There is another thread on here at the minute about things you wish people would stop giving you for presents and toiletries are coming up again and again as the most hated presents as people have their own brands they like so either pass it on or it sits in a drawer gathering dust. So I'm not sure this is as good an idea as you might think. . . . .
