AIBU to sleep with the light on now

So first off disclaimer that I've been reading the thread on here recently about glitches in the matrix which freaked me out a little!

I have just been sat bfing my 5 month old in the dark on the side of our bed. We have a next to me crib so there is a small gap where my bedside table is and then the crib begins. As I sleep naked I was using a Muslin to catch milk leaking from my other boob (sorry tmi!). Anyway I felt a tugging sensation and the Muslin was pulled from the bed and onto the floor where I could see the outline of it slither under the crib. I have never been so scared in my entire life. Especially when I plucked up the courage to have a quick glance down and saw two eyes staring back at me 😱😱😱😱 after a few seconds I realised my ddog has clearly escaped his bed and was now under the crib licking said muslin (🤢 straight in the wash don't worry!).

Anyway I now feel a bit of a tit but I'm still considering sleeping with the lights on! Ddog is firmly back in his bed 😂😂

Anyone else got any similar stories of being freaked out only to find out it was something daft? Please no actual scary ones as baby is heading off to sleep and I do want to sleep too 😂😂

Well now I'm going to have nightmares 😂

Andysbestadventure · 16/12/2019 00:46

Also link to matrix thread please. I know where there is a glitch though. My Mum and Dad's toilet is separate from their bathroom (but directly next to it) - when you sit on it with the door open the air in front always goes all wavy. It's clearly a heat pocket between the attic and the landing and the boxed off corner when you open the door when having a wee (tiny, tiny toilet room), but I like to think it's Narnia 😂

Theaccidentalthief · 16/12/2019 00:46

@Andysbestadventure I was frozen at first, kept thinking don't look down or you'll anger it 😂 no idea what 'it' was! Every horror I've ever seen flashed before my eyes. Dh is still snoring unaware of all this, don't really want to tell him in the morning as I'll never live down being afraid of our small soft as muck dog 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fackin’ell.

YANBU!

My scary story was waking up with my child standing next to the bed in the dark apparently willing me to wake up. If this baby is your first you have this to come Wink. It. Is. Terrifying. All three of my boys have done this at one time or another.

Be aware it does lead to other scarier threads! Good luck!

I was in the kitchen one dark windy night and I could hear scraping and scratching outside the window. I tried to block it out and legged it to bed.
The next morning I found a lose strip of masking tape still attached to the outside of window frame from when we had been painting

Theaccidentalthief · 16/12/2019 00:49

@ActualHornist oh god. Yes my first 😩 I kee thinking as a mum I should be brave now but it hasn't happened yet 😂

My parents fostered a little boy when I was younger, he was about 4 but small for his age and had a habit of coming into my room on a night for a cuddle. Can't tell you how much it scared my now dh the first time the door opened at 2am then the duvet started moving at the bottom of the bed! Thank god he didn't kick him 😂

I haven’t had anything like this happen but I’m unashamedly placemarking, as I love a weird story!

Steamfan · 16/12/2019 01:01

You've never been scared util you've had a snail crawling down the window in the early hours - the noise they make - sort of scraping along is really horrid. And it took a while before I saw the damn thing. I mean - who'd have thought a snail could be so scary!

Theaccidentalthief · 16/12/2019 01:06

@steamfan 😂😂😂 least you looked!

Only because I had the dog as backup!

gothefcktosleep · 16/12/2019 01:10

Not mine, but my sister woke up to an absolutely massive spider sitting on her face, as she started to scream in terror she also realised it was her own hand that was wrapped around the top of her head and had been the way she’d fallen asleep...

Foldinglaundryisnotforme · 16/12/2019 01:14

Ffs I've opened this thread while lifting my son to breastfeed him from his next to me crib!!!! Lifted my feet off the floor quick as hell let me tell u! I'm now sitting in the dark with my torch on my phone because I'm afraid of what's lurking behind the darkness

DecemberSnow · 16/12/2019 01:20

Made me laugh even more when you said your husband was in the bed with you... 🤣

DecemberSnow · 16/12/2019 01:22

Not mine... But my aunties...

She was woken by a noise in the bathroom, afew feet away from her..
She froze in terror, not able to move or scream or run.
She was only able to move her eyes, she was so scared.
The "person" started to come towards her and she was terrified...
Then he spoke to her and it was ger husband!!!!!
Her frikking husband, who had been asleep next to her the whole night. When she heard the noise in the bathroom, she didnt think to look to see if her husband was still in the bed next to her 🤣

MrsJoshNavidi · 16/12/2019 02:08

Was your auntie married to Oscar Pistorious?

DecemberSnow · 16/12/2019 02:22

@MrsJoshNavidi Not sure that is a very good joke ....

I dont think its funny anyway

VenusTiger · 16/12/2019 02:39

Ever experienced sleep paralysis? I have a few times. First time was several months ago as I was napping in the day (apparently more common then) and something (a noise) woke me up and I was in a deep sleep. I couldn’t move anything apart from my eyes! I couldn’t lift my head to hear better, or turn my face towards the door, it was terrifying as I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t move. It felt like about 5 minutes before I properly came around and was able to sit up.

I was on my own sat in the living room and I heard footsteps upstairs walking along the landing (floorboards). It was summer so the windows were all open. I just froze till my husband got home. I whispered there's someone upstairs. He crept up the stairs and came face to face with the neighbour's giant cat! I couldn't believe the footsteps were so loud considering it was just a cat. It is the biggest cat I've ever seen but it sounded like it was wearing hobnail boots!

Theaccidentalthief · 16/12/2019 08:34

I managed a few hours sleep! Dressing gown on the en-suite door kept freaking me out looking like a hooded figure 😂

A previous post reminded me of a time I woke up to dd stood over me willing me to wake up. We must have had the blind open as her long blonde hair looked almost translucent just like a ghost in a film. I actually screamed, scared the life out of her (and dh) and almost gave myself a heart attack. It’s funny now but not at the time. Why do they do that standing over you willing you to wake up thing? Not the only time but definitely the scariest.

recklessruby · 16/12/2019 09:38

Many years ago teen ds and I were watching The Ring on tv.
I had the house phone on my chair (not long finished talking to my mum).
Just after a character had got the "7 days" call our phone rang.
We both looked at it in horror and didnt answer.
Later on 7 year old dd came down as she woke up....lights were low and she came into the room in a long white t shirt with her long dark hair everywhere. Ds shrieked. Thought it was Samara Grin
