How to vote in person?

I don't know how to do it or what to do. I don't have any photo id or a vote card (Not sure i ever recieved one but I am registered to vote)
How do you know which polling station to go to.

I checked my local counils website and they only have info on voting by post or online.

I registered to vote online this year and selected the option if postal vote. But i only got a letter saying I was already registered so I didn't need to do anything else. Nothing about post vote. I assumed something would come but nothing has and today is the day! I am panicking and not sure what to do or what I need!
Can i still vote even though I dont drive or haven't left the country so i have no photo id? Could I use a bank statement as proof?

Please don't comment just to make me feel stupid, i have never voted before and have noone to ask in real life. (Ps i already feel stupid)

It seems so astonishing that we don’t have to provide ID

I think if the "gold standard" is for a voter to physically turn up and vote, then the level of fraud possible is so low as to be relatively negligible.

For myself, I think expecting the average person to get their sorry arse to a polling station less than once a year (on average) is a small price to pay for a robust democracy. However, I voiced that opinion a while back, and was given a litany of reasons why everybody these days is special, mixed in with a dash of wilful misunderstanding of the point and a twist of some people not bothering to read before wading in.

That said, I stand by it. As soon as you remove people from physically having to attend to vote, you invite all sorts of mischief into the system.

Which is why I am deeply suspicious of the initiative to "crack down" on voter fraud. It's a little like taking steps to deal with low flying hot air balloons. A problem that very few are reporting, if at all.

DGR as Hinge points out, there are so few cases and I'm not sure how you prove "personation" - is it really worth compulsory photo ID?

I believe we are agreeing furiously Grin ?

Thanks all, I've been now and it was totally fine, although they couldn't fond my address at first. Didn't need ID or anything. Job done.
Now to wait up all night wondering if we won Xmas Blush
