I'm an intelligent woman and I keep up with current affairs. I can't for the life of me decide who I should vote for tomorrow, because they all seem like terrible choices. I can't see a single option that I'm content with.

Every time I read an appeal by someone to vote for Labour, or vote for the Conservatives, I think 'no way!', but I don't like the Lib Dems either and voting for any other party will be a waste of a vote.

I live in a safe Conservative area anyway, so my vote is unlikely to sway anything.

I know exactly how you feel and these are definitely unprecedented times so don't feel bad about the dilemma.
I live in a Tory stronghold so I'm just going to vote for our independent candidate - it won't make a jot of difference to the overall result but just make his day!

If you're safe Tory, either vote with your heart for Greens, Monster Raving Loony or Independence for Sussex party.

Or vote to rattle the cage of your Conservative member - nothing ups their local game quite so much as seeing their majority slashed.

YANBU, I previously voted Tory, but can’t bring myself to this time round.
In theory I’d like to vote Lib Dem’s but I hate the SNP with every fibre of my being, and according to polls There is a 0.5% margin between them and Labour in my area. Although it pains me I guess I’ll have to vote Labour. It feels very strange.

I’m honestly perplexed that people actually believe Labour are going to spend all this money that doesn’t exist? 🤔 Free broadband for everyone! 😂

Lougle · 11/12/2019 21:52

It's quite worrying, tbh.

We only have Tory, Labour, Lib Dems and Green here and it’s a safe Tory seat with a massive majority. If we had any other option I’d pick it. Labour didn’t even stick a leaflet through the door till this morning, hardly bothering. It’s grim, I love an election normally but this one stinks and all 4 options are bloody awful.

Lougle · 12/12/2019 16:19

Ok, so I've voted. I surprised myself, in some ways, with my vote, but in the end I couldn't in good conscience vote for parties that have got it so wrong (in my eyes), so although I know it was a wasted vote, I've voted for the least worst option.

I’m a Labour voter and party member but even I liked some other party’s policies when I did the vote for policies thing. I was something like 25% Green Party and 20% Lib Dem. Doesn’t mean I’d vote for the Lib Dem’s, I haven’t voted for them since the travesty that was 2010.

I’d vote tactically personally, anything that will decrease the chance of a Tory majority.

Read the manifesto, the money does exist in the billionaires pockets.

laudete · 12/12/2019 16:39

I'm glad you managed to decide on someone to vote for, OP. :)

Next time, if you absolutely can't decide, at least just spoil your ballot paper. I think it's important that everyone uses their right to vote - even if it's just to spoil a ballot paper (which does get counted as X number of spoilt papers).

If Labour get into power, good luck with that. I look forward to seeing how it all turns out!

OhChristmasTreee · 12/12/2019 19:39

Went in adamant I was voting Tory (tactically - want the SNP out). Stood there ten mins and couldn’t do it. Voted Labour instead. Fact is I didn’t really want to vote for any of them 🤷🏻‍♀️

ShutupWesley · 12/12/2019 21:12

One of the ladies in my work posted something quite good on Facebook. If you were stranded and had to get the bus, if there wasn't one going to your destination, you would just get the one which got you closest to where you wanted to go. I thought that was quite a neat way of putting it. I want to get the tories out, so I voted Labour. Not a fan of JC but I can overlook it for the greater good

May84 · 12/12/2019 21:44

You have to decide which party you hate the least!
I work as a mental health nurse in the NHS and have seen first hand how cuts have affected people to the point where they are suicidal. We have had to discharge people to the streets as homeless charities have been cut by 50% in the last year.
I could never vote Tories as long as I have a conscience.
I don't personally like Corbyn but at least he recognizes how important keeping the NHS is.
I voted tactically as I live in a Lib Dem majority so have voted for them, to keep the Tories out.

Lougle · 13/12/2019 06:27

Well the results are in and all the seats in my area and surrounding areas went to the same parties as they did last time. All bar one Conservative. It looks like there was a 2000 drop in votes for the Conservatives in my area, but that's a drop in the ocean.
