To wonder why the media are not reporting on the homophobia and racist comments made by Boris

"In the most recently discovered comments, written in the Spectator magazine in 1999, Johnson said: “Across the country, there are many Tories who wish their party leadership would speak up more strongly against, say, gays in the military, or the cowing of the police by the Macpherson report, or the arrest of General Pinochet, or the impending abolition of the oath and the cap badge of the RUC [Royal Ulster Constabulary], or the abolition of the hereditary peers and foxhunting. They are, of course, right.”

This is not a defense of Corbyn thread. Just wondering why the media continously cover nonsense such as the Queens Speech thing. Yet ignore the extensive racist, sexist, elitist and homophobic comments made by Johnson.

I think it is a disgrace those like the BBC, SKY etc are not reporting or barely mentioning this.

Because Its realitively minor thing. Compared to the lies Johnson has told throughout the campaign. And the figures simppy made up by Priti Patel yesterday

(Re the media reporting the Queens Speech, and calling it nonsense)

It is not a minor thing. You may not agree with what it contains but it is a part of Parliamentary process and it is setting out the sitting Goverment’s intentions for the coming Parliamentary year.

It would be bizarre for the media not to report it, whichever political party is in office. What would be reasonable to criticise or analyse is the editorial commentary that attaches to the reporting of it.

Surely Sajid Javid and Nadhim Zahawi are as offended by his remarks about Muslim women as they are about Corbyn’s anti semitism

Simple. Their careers mean more to them.

flirtygirl · 09/12/2019 13:17

The media is not reporting it as most are right wing and most probably agree with him.

Also why would they as he is their choice for tory leader and for prime minister.
Alot of people on mumsnet and in the UK agree with him anyway.

So apparently EU migrants "have been treating the UK as if it's part of their own country for too long", according to Johnson.
So that's nice for the many people who have settled here, contributed and made the country their home, perfectly legally and in good faith.
The man is veering dangerously close to some pretty unpleasant sentiments.
Actually bollox, he's crossed the line. On many an occasional.
He is utterly unfit to be Prime Minister.

Doyoumind · 09/12/2019 13:28

It simply seems the majority of people don't care what Boris says. People know the kinds of things he says and the lies he tells and they ignore it all.

Because billionaires own the news outlets and billionaires want the Tories.
BBC has clearly failed at being impartial, and newspapers dont have to be.
