To ask if GP tomorrow is needed? Very worried

For the last two/three weeks DC has had a lump on the side of his upper thigh. It's hard and you can't really move it.

It started off a bit smaller but is now the size of large chestnut I'd say. I've taken him to see the pharmacist who said to see a GP within a week or so.

Our surgery is extremely packed out. Should I get an emergency appointment or am I being ridiculous?

Nothing else wrong with him and it doesn't bother him, it's completely painless.

I did think may jab related? But he hasn't been jabbed for just over a year now.

Emergency appointment or should I arrange for one next week (that's what their prebookable availability is like)

100% get it checked.

Needs to be seen

PurpleDaisies · 08/12/2019 22:52

You have been told by a pharmacist to see a gp within a week.

Phone up and tell the receptionist that. If that means an emergency appointment, that’s ok.

Mrshook · 08/12/2019 22:52

Get it checked out.

brownowhow · 08/12/2019 22:53

Thanks all. I just don't want to sound batshit if I ask for an 'emergency' appointment over a painless lump

That's what emergency appointments are for - if you needed the emergency room you wouldn't see your GP.

AppleKatie · 08/12/2019 22:54

Ring the GPs say what the pharmacist said and get an appointment.

If he’s not been jabbed for a year it’s obviously not that.

Beyond that you need a dr not mumsnet!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 08/12/2019 22:55

Has he fallen or bashed his leg at any point.

I fell on my 16th birthday, every hard on my left thigh. Massive bruise, really swollen and hard. I still have the lump at 36. GP just said it happens sometimes with a haemotoma.

Definitely get it checked, but it probably isn't something you need to worry too much about.

over a painless lump

Its probably nothing but it does need checking because cancer itself is painless. The chance that it is cancer is really, really small though

Yes absolutely warrants an emergency appointment!
