Honestly I'm livid....basically got through to a customer service role (NHS related, routine for us, and I have poorly child) to have the most antagonistic , vilest attitude I've ever encountered....why on earth be employed in this role if you are dealing with parents of poorly children!? (It's a specific role so they know who they are dealing with)
I would never speak to my clients ( not as half as a sensitive sector either ) the way I was spoken to and i still can't 'put it to bed' in my head...I'm foaming😡
Why on earth be paid to be in that role if you can't full fill it!!! I would never want special treatment but my god I don't expect an attitude either!
Is this a thing now? Are we expected to just put up with however the other person's day is going? Or would I seriously be being unreasonable to complain although that in itself would go against my own nature and make me feel like shite for days 😬
On the other hand I'm determined to stand up for myself etc so obviously ..in a quandary 🙄 ....?

I don't know what "customer service" jobs are the NHS.
Mostly you get through to receptionists or secretaries. Some are rude, some are lovely. But most don't have the authority to override their job role.

Complain.
All resources are thin, including those to quality check customer service. If you complain the person will be looked at more closely/ trained etc.

Not enough info. In my time working with the general public I've had complaints made about me by people who were spoiling for a fight

-I was "too happy"
-I didn't smile enough

  • I was very, very rude (meaning I wouldn't break the law for them and sell alcohol outwith trading hours)
  • I didn't speak to them when I saw them in public

I always think this in shops (different I know) no effort is made to chat and there is so much blame placed online for high street shops closing I would say crap customer service doesn't help the matter whatsoever!

I usually find people who won't give at least some details about the incident know they are in the wrong and withhold as they want validation not honesty.

Some people think they can be short tempered with customer service staff and still have them gush and fawn all over them.

The default starting point for customer facing staff is to be polite if nothing else. If they couldn’t achieve that AT LEAST then they wouldn’t keep the role. If you’re getting an attitude from them then I really wonder how you approached the call and what you said.
