To be absolutely crapping myself for my driving test !

I have my practical test this week. I am crapping it but I don't know why. I'm a confident learner, I do automatic, passed theory the first go, and drive my mums car nearly everyday for experience, so why am I so worried about my practical test ?

Does anyone have any tips of keeping my cool or on what might help me pass? My test centre is one of the worst named in the country apparently, which isn't making me feel great to be honest !

I feel like I will fail this test but pass the next for some reason but honestly could really do with passing my test this go, I have twins and a toddler so don't have much time for lessons or money to keep booking practical tests unfortunately.

Any help would be really appreciated !!

TIA x

Sadly, I do not have any tips. I have my practical test on Dec 30 - and at 46 years old, it is about time.

You can do it, so can I. Just practice, and pretend it is a regular day driving with your mum beside you.

I failed 3 times and have yet to pass. So don’t have much advice. The first two times I definitely wasn’t ready to do the test. The main thing is being confident. As long as your ready for the test you should be fine.

No substitute for time behind the wheel to iron out mistakes and improve your confidence. How many formal lessons have you done?

Driving tests are stressful, especially as passing can be a genuine life changer. But, if things don't work out, it's not the end of the world.

Have you tried Rescue Remedy spray? Perhaps that may help with settling your stress before the test.

Best of luck!

Good luck! Try not to be too nervous, it's why I failed twice, was a good driver but tests made me so nervous that I cocked things up, the one I passed was on quiet roads, ones I didn't know but quiet none the less.

I'm quite confident, I drive everyday without making many mistakes. My instructor is confident, she just says I need to have faith in myself, I'm worried my nerves will get the best of me on the day, and there's a few awful roundabouts that could come up on my route ! My instructor says I drive like I've been driving for years but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not ! I've had over 45 hours of actual lessons not mentioning the hours of experience in my mums car, I've booked it at a good time, half ten, just keeping my fingers crossed but looking for tips and how to keep calm as i just need to pass, three small children on a bus is hell x

I got rescue remedy pastels from boots, they were good and they tasted really nice too.

richteasandcheese · 08/12/2019 07:47

Rescue remedy + positive affirmations (I pass my driving test with ease, I drive calmly and confidently etc) I passed this year at 34, after having put it off for 17 years! Good luck

billybagpuss · 08/12/2019 07:49

My dd was like this, she told us she was going to fail but was using the test to add to her experience. She passed first time, she had some minors all within the first 5 minutes.

LakieLady · 08/12/2019 07:55

Are you my DP's niece? I had more or less the same conversation with her yesterday!

Ime, if I'm nervous before something, once it starts, it's never as bad as I feared and my nerves go away in the first minute or two. Once you get in that car, having to focus will take your mind off your nerves and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I was never nervous before my driving tests, but fell apart the minute I pulled away from the kerb. Took the bloody thing 5 times!
