Name changed as this is outing!!
DH and I got married in July, and are due to go on honeymoon at the very end of this month. We’re going very long haul, total flight time of 24 hours. I have issues with my back, and so we are mildly concerned as to how this might go anyway, but I’m sure it’ll be fine... probably. Bit of background.

Anyway, to get to the point, we want to start TTC, sooner rather than later, for a few reasons, and I just wanted to gauge from women who have been pregnant how bad an idea this could be? My main concerns are the sickness and the potential for achiness, so any and all input would be very much appreciated, when your morning sickness made an appearance, how affected you were physically early on etc.

Main reasons for wanting to get a move on;
We’ve wanted to for a long time but wanted to be married and stable financially first which we now are
My DH is much less busy with work from November (ish) onwards, so if we caught straight away, this would work in our favour (I know there’s no guarantees, but last time (which admittedly ended in a miscarriage) I fell pregnant straight away)
We love the idea of a honeymoon baby, potentially (silly reason but a reason nonetheless)

YABU - are you mad woman?! Just wait till you’re back!
YANBU - go for it, it’ll be grand!

I was thrilled to get a long awaited positive result while away on a big 'once in a lifetime' trip. After many months of Ttc. Sadly towards the end of the trip I had an early miscarriage. It was very sad for me&DH and we never talk about or try and remember the holiday, because it really only reminds us of that loss & all the fertility stress that came with it afterwards. I'd say wait just until you get back. Also incase of sickness & exhaustion.

I’d wait. A month or 2 will make no difference in the long run, but you want to enjoy your holiday!

I had an ectopic pregnancy and bleeding and subsequent diagnosis and medical treatment started at 5 weeks. So 3 weeks after conception. I wouldn’t want to be dealing with any of that kind of stuff while away

Apart from the pain in pelvis in 3rd trimester I suffered the most early on. From about 3rd week until 14 weeks I was exhausted, nauseous all day, headaches and really bad pain in stomach. I personally would wait until after (or during) a special holiday to try

I tested positive 5 days before my period was due. I needed to have emergency dental surgery hence the early pregnancy test.

By the time my period was due, hyperemesis was in full swing and I vomited at least once a day until dd was born. Thats not normal
Though.

I'd wait and stop contraception on holiday.

You will be limited drinking alcohol, joining in any extreme sports like white water rafting or whatever takes your fancy plus fatigue could hit you like a brick. I remember lying on a airport bench 6.30am flight cancelled for 4 hours with a horrible migraine in very early pregnancy. It was hell!

With my first I had HG that kicked in absolutely suddenly after 4 weeks, I only knew I was pregnant a couple of days then was so so sick for weeks. So personally I wouldn't, but that's with hind sight! Really though, I'm sure it will be fine and I would just stop using protection and enjoy!
