Early menopause?

I'm 38, single, absolutely no sex life. Yay me! 😁 My periods have always been a bit erratic. I've been told that despite my symptoms I'm 'too young' for menopause, but I'm really not so sure anymore. I started having serious sweats - really really badly. Day and night, they would come on without warning and I would be soaked and dripping. It was the most embarrassing and uncomfortable time of my life. It went on for about 2 years. My periods are now coming approximately every 53 days (never counted before but its got my attention finally) and before every period now I vomit, my boobs hurt like fuck, and I basically get every symptom of pregnancy. Then it passes and my bones ache and click/crack like crazy. It's really quite horrid. Is this early menopause? It has to be, surely?

Yes it will be perimenopause. Your gp sounds very poor indeed. Can you find another? Many practices have websites that tell you the gps' special areas of interest. Mine has a gp who specializes in women's health and menopause. Also do consider seeing a specialist privately. Well worth saving for. Good luck. Please push for help. Flowers

YANBU. I had perimenopausal symptoms at 36. (Mine were like cystitis symptoms, and I was gobsmacked when a trainee GP suggested a bloodtest to see if I was premimenopausal, but she was bloody well right).

Could you try a different doctor at the same surgery?

This was me aged 38. I had my last period at 42. I would suggest changing doctors and get yourself sorted out with HRT. There is a good forum called Menopause Matters that you might like to look up.

38 is certainly [tho not freakishly] young to start, but those symptons seem fairly clear-cut TBH.
