AIBU the courier, the company, the neighbour and the slightly grubby face cream

Mumsnet virgin - first time poster here looking for some collective wisdom. Sorry for long post!

Ordered some posh face products from Kiehls as a Christmas gift for my neice to be delivered to my office address. Arrived at work on Thursday morning to receive delivery card saying courier had left with neighbour (also a business next door). Went to collect - they were in a bit of a flap and said the parcel had been taken home by someone who worked there. They were going to get it brought back and call me. Heard nothing but they seemed to know it contained Kiehls products.

Went back in today and was handed two bottles - one slightly grubby and with no seals. Was gobsmacked. Asked where packaging was and spoke to girl who had opened it - she was very defensive and she thought it was her package as apparently she had also ordered a package from Kiehls (really!) and had binned the box and delivery note. I asked her had she not read label - she said someone put it on her seat so she just opened it and it was not her fault.

Suggested she keep the products and give me the money so I could replace as gifts. She became really aggressive and said that was not happening. Not sure how to resolve. Phoned Kiehls who said I would have to package and pay for postage and write a letter explaining but they could not guarantee they would replace products.

Have also wasted about an hour of my life trying to get hold of dpd - the courier - which is like being in some seventh circle of hell. Not managed to contact anyone there successfully yet.

Anyone got a creative idea how to resolve?

I never said the police would do anything.

So what on earth would be the point of calling them then? And wasting Precious police resources? good lord....... no wonder it takes them hours to attend actual crimes when people would bother them with nonsense like this!

Good luck OP. My bet is that Keihls will refund 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hope the OP gives an update - I really want to know how this ends as it has implications for all of us.

I think it’s a bit harsh calling the woman a ‘thieving bitch’. And I am shocked at the posters who have essentially suggested that you blackmail her?! It’s DPD and Kiehl’s you need to be dealing with. Use Twitter.

Also, for what it’s worth, I think the Kiehl’s bottles do have a seal on the lid (not around the lid - you need to unscrew the top to see if the seal is there), but I don’t think the tubs do.

It’s DPD’s liability, but your contract is with Keihls, they didn’t fulfil the contract which wasDPD’s fault but your contract isn’t with them. Keihls should be replacing as you never received it and they can then claim from DPD. Sorry you didn’t come on here first I’d have just told you to tell Keihls you received the del note but the neighbours didn’t have it.

Of course she’s a thieving cow but not much you can do!!

if you paid via paypal you can claim about 10 return postage back.
