BIL/Sil's child is very unwell and they have basically been living at the hospital for months. I want to get them a Xmas gift that will be helpful to them, so was thinking of a hamper with bits in. Anyone have any ideas of what would be good to include?

It depends on whether you want to do a food hamper or not . If none food maybe things like a pillow spray, This works do some lovely stuff to help sleep , soothing bath stuff etc leave in conditioner , to save time. Moisturizer for both of them . Hospital air can dry skin . Maybe some luxury biscuits and boiled sweets . Voucher for hospital shop ? A bag of change for coffee machine

Hope there DC is better soon .

Maybe a flask that they can take soup or coffee in . Book they can read to their little one ? Nice scented hand sanitizer .

Maybe Cook vouchers for wholesome frozen food. Even if they don’t have appropriate cooking facilities where they are they will be helpful when they are looking after a recuperating child back at home.

And couple his and her magazines to flick through something they maybe wouldn't normally buy maybe .

Check what facilities there are at their hospital - for example ours has subway and Costa - and get gift cards for those. Nice water bottles and reusable coffee cups. Slippers that look the most like shoes possible. Nice hand cream - all the hand washing and alcohol gel is very drying. Change for vending machines. A really good universal charger pack. A really nice throw/blanket in case they are there in the evenings or overnight.

I agree with the frozen food. Or gift-vouchers for a restaurant with take-aways or similar. Meal-planning and cooking is completely different when a child is in hospital.

Also find out if deliveroo will deliver to their hospital and if so get them deliveroo credit.

How old is the child? We spent months in hospital too - the best gift we got was a hamper of food. I literally lived of biscuits for 4 months apart from that.

Perhaps biscuits, tub of hot choc and lots of nice (m&s?) ready meals. Stuff to read/ do (depends on how ill the child is and how much parents are interacting v needing to just sit by the bed). My parents bought us an ipad so we could watch films, play games etc.

Maybe also some nice shampoo, conditioner, face mask etc. Nice pyjamas.

Also an offer to help with whatever is needed if you are able to - I had no time/ energy for life admin, washing clothes etc etc.
