Ds (8)is getting a Nintendo Switch for Christmas. It was DH’s idea as he is heavily into gaming and is buying one for himself. They will be able to play the same game and swap characters etc.Ds said this evening that his friend in school is having one for Christmas but that he doesn’t believe him. I told him that it will depend on what Santa brings him (his friend) on the day and that boys and girls write a list but Santa can’t always get everything on the list. Ds started to cry that he wouldn’t get his switch. DH then said “congratulations, you’ve made him cry, are you happy now?” He said to ds “dont listen to Mammy. You will DEFINITELY get your switch.” Now, ds didn’t actually ask for a switch, hasn’t written a letter to Santa etc. It was DH’s idea for him to have one and he told him that he’s definitely getting one for Christmas. AIBU In thinking the whole idea is that you write a letter to Santa with your Christmas list but you have to wait and see until Christmas morning what you get? I understand that this is a pretty extensive gift and that not all kids will be so lucky. It also opens a can of worms of why some kids have loads and others very little. I can see why some presents could be from the mum and dad and the stocking/small items from Santa.
