to think that anyone voting for the Conservatives deserves to hear Boris Johnson answer these questions on trust with Andrew Neil

Every other leader has been interviewed by him.

Andrew Neil has some key questions to ask - and we deserve to hear his answers.

A video is here showing the questions Neil would ask. I am sure people can think of others.

I don't think a politician is duty bound to undergo an interview with the BBC's interviewer of choice.

Duty-bound? Perhaps not. But honour-bound? Absolutely. The problem with Johnson is that he has no honour.

Tolleshunt · 05/12/2019 23:16

Blimey, you don’t have to be an activist to find things to take issue with about Boris! It’s not that they’re taking the piss, it’s that he’s giving it away. Or, rather, taking the electorate for mugs. Which, in fairness, a majority of them do seem to be.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 05/12/2019 23:42

Yes I think he should be interviewed by Andrew Neil. I think he took the option of being interviewed by Andrew Marr as AM has a different style of interviewing is as good but he gets irate and that can annoy viewers

I don’t think either way will impact the outcome of the election

Symptomless · 05/12/2019 23:48

The majority will vote whoever daily mail, telegraph, leave.eu, sun etc tell them to vote.

Genevieva · 06/12/2019 00:00

I think the BBC have put Andrew Neil on slightly too high a pedestal and it annoys me. We are perfectly capable of making an informed decision without any interviews of this sort at all. All they tend to do is confirm preconceived opinions either way.

AlunWynsKnee · 06/12/2019 00:00

It doesn't matter. The people voting for Johnson are voting for him because:
They always vote Conservative
Or
They really hate Corbyn
Or
He's a personality.

It doesn't matter what he says or does in an interview.

noblegiraffe · 06/12/2019 00:16

Surely it’s not the BBC putting Neil on a pedestal, it’s Johnson, by refusing to be interviewed by him when the rest have.

Johnson, on the other hand, is perfectly happy to take soft interviews like Holly Willoughby.

HeddaGarbled · 06/12/2019 00:22

Honestly, what’s the point of all these TV interviews and debates? No one answers truthfully, do they? It’s all PR and willy waving, not least from the interviewers.

Judge them by their deeds, not their words.

noblegiraffe · 06/12/2019 00:26

It sounds, Hedda like you’re trying to defend Johnson’s non-appearance.

Unfortunately for Johnson, judging him by his deeds doesn’t work out too well for him either. The racist liar.

HeddaGarbled · 06/12/2019 00:40

Then you need to listen properly 🤷‍♀️

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 06/12/2019 00:44

I agree with you AlunWynsKnee

It nothing new to find out that Boris Johnson is a liar, untrustworthy, that he is ruthless with views that many find offensive. What has always been apparent is his determination he always wanted to be PM and now I think that’s been elevated to PM who led the country out of the EU

Maybe it’s that determination that people admire or feel they can trust him being PM

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/12/2019 11:51

I think the BBC have put Andrew Neil on slightly too high a pedestal and it annoys me. We are perfectly capable of making an informed decision without any interviews of this sort at all

I feel the same way myself, but apparently we're all incapable of independent thought and are just voting because of what we've read in some rag

The really worrying thing is that they'll probably still blame the right wing media if Labour lose, which will do precisely towards making them electable again. Even worse, if nothing alters we could be in exactly the same position in another five years Hmm
