We have rented our flat for nearly 4 years now.
Never been late with rent
In August of this year we noticed a loud banging sound from the roof when ever it was windy.
We reported this to the landlady.
It's December now and still isn't fixed despite us contacting a further 14 times now about this .
It's keeping me awake at night when it's windy and I've had enough.
They can't even tell me what's happening about it . Because nothing is obviously happening.
Pissed off.

14 times? Blimey, that's slack.

There could be rain getting in and damaging the structure of the roof, given the wet autumn we've just had.

Maybe point this out to them and see if it helps?

Emmabryant123 · 05/12/2019 17:28

True. Thankfully if this is the case we haven't got any damp or mould .

It's just ridiculous isn't it ?
I can't sleep at all when it's windy and it's making this noise unless I use white noise or I go to the sofa .
I also have sleep apnea and use CPAP and am having issues with insomnia to at the moment which doesn't help my sleep and this just tops it off.

We pay 850 a month for a two bed flat and I think they are just taking the piss now.

If it is loose roof tiles, they could fall down and kill someone. If you have reported the issue to the landlord and they haven't dealt with it, their insurance company might decide not to pay damages due to negligence. This could end up being very expensive for your landlord. Have you considered contacting Environmental Health?

Emmabryant123 · 05/12/2019 17:36

I had not thought of that.
What could they do?

I initially thought it was a animal nesting at first but as the weeks went on we realized it only happens when it's windy or quite breezy.

If it's a leasehold property (usually the case with flats) then it's the management company who are responsible for maintenance to the building and common areas.

Can you find out who they are and get onto them?

Emmabryant123 · 05/12/2019 17:42

We have got onto them to .
4 bloody months ago and mutiple times since then .
Forgot to mention them to
