Hot drinks & loyalty cards

It's just bugging me that a café nearby has a loyalty card for hot drink purchases. The problem arose when I ordered and paid for two coffees, offered my loyalty card and was given just the one stamp. When I asked why it was only one stamp for two drinks, the reply was "it's one stamp per transaction"
The wording on the card states " buy 9 hot drinks and your 10th is free". AIBU expecting a stamp per drink and NOT per purchase? When I go in again, I will get DH his own card and we'll pay separately.

My cafe always stamps twice. I'd make a point of making separate purchases!

Just ask them to do it in separate transactions, I used to do this at Starbucks

I used to work in a cafe and we started a loyalty scheme. There were huge arguments about whether stamps should be per drink or transaction. I was firmly on per drink side. I actually can't remember the outcome now though!

Pretty sure Caffe Nero is one stamp per drink. A cafe near to me has a loyalty card that raises money for the local primary school. You pay £2.50 for the card then get 10% off any hot drink purchases. If you spend £30 on drinks, they still give 10% off all the hot drinks.

“Ok then please refund all of that and put it through as two separate transactions.”

I’m sure they’d go with the easer option of stamping the card twice

Starbucks give one star per transaction which is really unfair. So I do four storage transactions! Eat that Starbucks!

What Silly said.

This is the first time I have ever come across this kind of setup. I might ask if they can clarify the t's & c's with a little sign by the till, or on the actual cards. Separate transactions all the way from now on.
