AIBU to challenge the title of this Mumsnet video

I had one of these annoying MN video running without me clicking on it, and for the first time I looked at it. Twice.
The title is " Make a healthy smoothie bowl" featuring an adult and a child making a one person bowl and listing the ingredients as they were adding them to the blender.
I put the ingredients in my nutrition analysis app, and that "healthy" bowl is a massive 1004 calories !
If this is what people believe is healthy, no wonder there is an obesity crisis!

Given the recipe contains 93 gr of sugar (23 teaspoons) and 41 gr of fat should we ask MN to change the title of this video and remove healthy from it?

YANBU - 23 teaspoons of sugar and 1004 calories??? Have you definitely got the research right? To those who say garbage like you've too much time in your hands, what a ludicrous response when you too had time to read this post and response. That charge could be levied at anyone posting in here and is clearly ridiculous and just a really really rude and unnecessarily dismissive way to try to shut down discussion on topics that aren't to your liking and just isn't on.

The smoothie obsession is ridiculous.

It’s an issue I have with my dc’s dad - he is convinced smoothies are healthy, because only healthy-ish stuff goes into them. He will make a couple a day for the dc when they are with him, on top of pudding at each meal and extra sweets/snacks plus hot choc before bed.

It’s madness.

If you want fruit, eat fruit. If you want a smoothie, be aware of the amount of calories and adjust the rest of your diet accordingly.

@WelshMammaofaSlovak That's why I put the screenshots from the nutritional analysis website. It is called cronometer cronometer.com and I use it daily to make sure I reach my needs for minerals and vitamins as I follow a plant based diet and it is quite easy to become malnourished, no matter how knowledgeable you are.

The second time I watched the video, I would just insert the ingredients on the website, one by one , in the order the woman was listing them.

@Isitme13 totally agree on the fruit smoothie. In this particular video the woman was just carelessly squeezing honey out of a tube, so this made the sugar content shoot up. I inserted what she said regarding the tablespoons she was adding but judging by the amount she was squeezing it was even more.

YANBU. This kind of stuff is dangerous as it peddles sugar laden slop as healthy when we are in the midst of an obesity and dental health crisis.

1004 calories and all that sugar! 😮

Smoothies are the devil. 1004? Jeez Louise, that's more than a bottle of wine. Definitely not!

LeGrandBleu - yes, it’s that slapdash approach that means people don’t realise what’s going in and how it adds up. When I last dropped my dc off with their dad, we needed a chat and he made a smoothie while I was there so I noticed what was going in. This was after school, dc about to have their tea (in half an hour or so), no one dying of hunger or thirst. He made a smoothie with 4 bananas, about 300ml of flavoured yoghurt, fruit juice, a ‘handful’ of raspberries (half a punnet), and a ‘spoon’ of honey - a very generously heaped spoon, so I’d say 2-3 tablespoons. And that’s just for a ‘snack’ before they sit down to eat a full meal plus pudding! In an hour at his house I’d say they consumed their daily calorie intake (and had obviously had breakfast/lunch/snacks (at school) during the day). It’s utter insanity.

If you are in good terms with the dad , maybe point him towards Cronometer.

Of course a smoothie in a hot summer day is a very pleasant drink, but don’t label it healthy.

The worse thing for me is the woman in the video was so happy to share this fantastic and healthy recipe. She has no clue and she seems to really believe she is giving her daughter a great snack

Smoothie can be healthy we eat them (normally berries, apple, spinach and plain yoghurt) and have a small glass each. It's the almond butter/honey/granola/vile banana and milk) that add up the calories.

I'm glad someone else posted this, as I saw this popping up on a thread today and my jaw dropped - not sure about 1000 calories, but it's at least 700, with a very large amount coming directly from sugar. The video should be re-published with a more appropriate title.
