To be very worried at loss of my job

Highly likely business I work for will be closing very rapidly and abruptly

I have worked there just over a year.

Can anyone advise please? I am a single parent of two primary children with no safety net. I do receive tax credits and along with my salary - we were bumping along very comfortably.

Without my salary - very different story

Would appreciate any guidance. I have never been in this position before - so I get redundancy pay? Even if business shorting down?

Many thanks

You won't have worked there long enough for redundancy but should get paid notice and any accrued holiday. You could claim uc/jsa.

Thank you

Jsa on top of UC? I’m currently on tax credits, would I be moved over.

Oh I really am beside myself. Poor timing too!
Will I get a months pay as this was my notice period?

Sorry it all the questions

So sorry to hear that. Its never a good time to lose your job, but at this time of year, it must be horrible.

How certain are you that it's going to happen?

Sorry to hear this OP. How much you are entitled to from your employer depends on how long you've worked there & also your contract.

How long have you been there altogether? What is your contractual notice period?

So sorry to hear this OP. Redundancy is tough, especially at this time of year. Sadly you wont be entitled to redundancy unless your company pay over the statutory amount. You should get your notice paid (4 weeks) but if the company is going bust, they may not be able to pay this. I would suggest updating your CV and getting registered with recruitment agencies now so you can start looking ASAP. Some employers do continue to hire over the festive period. Create an account with indeed and set up job search alerts. If it turns out you aren't made redundant then that's great but if you are you will have given yourself a head start. Good luck

you won't get redundancy pay (you need 2 years of employment and statutory redundancy pay is a pity only anyways).

just start applying now. you will lose your job. no point hanging around and waiting for it to happen .
I appreciate it is crap but there is never a good time to lose your job. just crack on and apply.
