CF letting their dogs pee on my front door!

AIBU to be absolutely fed up with people letting their dogs pee on my door? Please give me creative ways to stop them! We live in the town centre, there are plenty of other places where the dog could pee, including a park not one minutes walk away Angry
I wouldn't even mind so much if they were letting it happen on my wall, but as it is I have to push my pram through a puddle of pee to get into my house!

I've tried washing the wall and door down with vinegar to stop it smelling like dog, but they're still doing it

Please help vipers, it's really getting me down

Motion sensor...

StickyToffeeTart · 02/12/2019 15:35

I wondered about this, but what would the motion sensor do? Record it? It's a fairly busy street so it would also capture random pedestrians

Probably a stupid idea but dogs hate citrus... So spraying the door and surrounding area with lemon juice could be worth a try?

Willow2017 · 02/12/2019 15:37

Wait behind door with bucket of soapy water and brush.
When one approaches open door and throw water over step and dog and person by accident.
Say "oops was just going to.scrub the doorstep again due to ignorant arses letting thier dogs piss on It."
Then start scrubbing innocently.😁

Sign on door asking people not to allow their dog to use your front as a toilet ?

MuthaFunka61 · 02/12/2019 15:40

You could try essential oils,I've used rosemary before to stop my dog scratching a sore spot.

Otherwise,what @Willow2017 said ^^

Clymene · 02/12/2019 15:45

Bleach everything - you need to get rid of the smell completely. Then spray with lemon juice and sprinkle chilli pepper on the wall and along the ground near it. Should put them off

In let's at home you can but a spray called stop it. Scrub it down really well the. Spray with a load of stop it. Also put a note on your door. It's a pretty disgusting thing to let your dog pee up a persons front door

Thanks everyone, I'll try these!
Willow2017 must admit I've been imagining a Wallace and Gromit style contraption that soaks passersby in something grim Grin

Obviously a note would be good, but we used to have a note on our window asking people not to bang on the glass when our cat sat on the windowsill and if anything it enticed people, who saw the sign and came over to read it! I don't understand it, we live in such a lovely town, I would never let my dog pee on somebody else's property Angry

I heard that they won't pee where they drink, so if you have space, you could pop a bowl of water out?

colliemayhem · 02/12/2019 16:08

Maybe try and get some of this paint - might work for dog wee too!

Don't use bleach, you need an ammonia enzyme cleaner - you can get special cleaners from places like wilko for about a £1. Use that, then spray the whole area with bitter apple spray or cover it in lemon juice.

StickyToffeeTart · 02/12/2019 16:12

Collie that paint is genius! If only it was reflective enough to spray the owners too Grin

I have this problem with my neighbours cat.... Only thing that I've found that works is simple solution from amazon it is amazing!! and placing a water dish there.
You need to get rid of all traces of the pee otherwise they will keep marking over it... Do not use bleach... It makes it stink even worse
