Prob been done to death, but I’m just not sure I can bring myself to vote for any of them.

For the last 10 or so years of her very long life, my mother asked the oldest grandchild still under voting age how they wanted her to vote

@bertrandrussell - that's lovely and exactly the kind of thing I meant.

OhMyDarling · 02/12/2019 18:18

People DIED to give you the opportunity to vote.
Stop being precious and bloody put a tick in a box.
If nothing else vote for the NHS, our education system, our police service.
If nothing else, vote for those in society that need support. Who have been trampled on. Who feed their children from food banks.
Use your vote in the name of the tens of thousands of poor people who have died as a result of austerity.

I’m sorry, I just don’t get this position. For most of my life I’ve had to vote for the “least worst” option. And there really always is a worst option. It’s self-indulgent to just not bother on the basis you don’t think it’ll have much impact on you personally, or there’s no one perfectly aligned with your views. Look at who you think will do most harm and vote against them.

RibenaMonsoon · 02/12/2019 18:35

I'm sure if Emiline Pankhurst was here today she may also have found all the candidates juat as crap as each other. Who knows, maybe she would have chosen not to vote.
Were never going to know, but yes, women fought and died for my "right to vote". For that I am eternally grateful.

They fought for me to have the same rights as men. Men can also choose not to vote if it suits them. It's just as much my right not to vote as it is to vote. They fought for us to have the choice.

For the record I am voting. But if I chose not to. That's also my right.
YANBU.

YANBU.

They’re a bunch if self centred wankers. First past the post is broken.

I’ve looked hard at the polices and everyone has nuts polices I can vote for.

With Johnson’s it’ll be a no deal Brexit and where fucked.

Then you look at the Corbyn joke and his polices will bankrupt.l both our business and the country.

Would love to vote LiBDem but can’t win here and also have loads of stupid polices.

I’m done. We’ve lost whoever wins this one.

This is the biggest election in a generation. If you've ever looked around at your surroundings, or struggled to get a GP or hospital appointment. If you've found it hard to make ends meet, or found the money in your purse not going as far. If you've seen homeless people in greater numbers. Or if not if you have watched the news about the rise in child poverty, deaths due to poverty, rise of foodbanks and heard that the NHS is in panic mode due to winter demand, then you simply must vote for Labour. Or even tactical voting. Anything to end the huge suffering of many, many people of all ages in this country.
Literally, your country needs you.

MrsNoMopp · 02/12/2019 18:54

"...I'm happy to cast my vote according to your instructions"

And when they instruct you to vote for the Monster Raving Loony party, BNP or Communists, then what?

Alsohuman · 02/12/2019 19:15

It’s time for the country to call our politicians to account for their appalling behaviour

Not voting isn’t calling them to account, it’s completely the reverse.

Roussette · 02/12/2019 20:17

If you're stuck to vote for, vote for policies, not people.

voteforpolicies.org.uk/

This takes time to do but is worth it. It ends up showing your personal preference as far as what you agree with or don't agree with with regard to policies.

It also shows what people who have done this in your constituency have voted for. And shows nationally what the mood of the country is with regard to policy. It's interesting.

Roussette · 02/12/2019 20:20

{Just bear in mind, for every issue that is important to you, if you tick the box, you will be asked lots of questions on it, so it does take time. If time is short, just pick the most pressing issues for you}

YeOldeTrout · 02/12/2019 20:25

Good Radio 4 programme on (right now) about people who don't vote!

Moonmelodies · 02/12/2019 21:17

BiBiBirdie
A lot of people believe voting Labour will make those issues worse.

Letseatgrandma · 02/12/2019 22:18

A lot of people believe voting Labour will make those issues worse.

And a lot of people are very aware how much these issues have been caused by and made worse by the Conservatives over the last ten years.

ListeningQuietly · 02/12/2019 22:25

First Past the Post is broken
we need to move to a form of Proportional Representation

if LOTS of people vote tactically and for minority parties in this election
the pressure to change will increase

PLEASE VOTE
