Photobooks: posting for traffic

Aibu to ask here? Possibly...
I can’t afford much for Christmas. I’m a single mum with two children.
We were offered the chance of a holiday staying with family in their home abroad back in Oct. although we had free accommodation, the flights and various activities cost me way more than I can afford on a part time wage but it was a one off opportunity and they’ve never been abroad before.
I’d already told them this trip is their main present but I do feel a bit mean as a retrospective gift is a huge concept for littlies.
They’re good kids and not spoilt at all and never make unrealistic demands re material stuff.
Anyway... waffle over...
My plan is to make them a photo book each of their trip.
I’m easily overwhelmed due to disability and I’m really struggling to understand and find a decent package which won’t cost the earth but I want the convenience of a photo book as opposed to me putting time and effort into making an album myself (I’m very fatigued and I have ptsd from a trauma earlier this year and I’m finding everything more difficult than usual)
So... with no further ado, hit me with your cheapest but nice photobook recommendations please!

Photobox, the phone app is also very user friendly, you can include written sections so you could put an almost diary entry in about each day of the holiday.

Free Prints ( yes they're free!) also do an App which is Free Photobooks. I think that's one free photobook a month ( you pay postage). I've done the free prints which are great but never the books. That could cut the price in half. Or at least reduce it if you wanted a bit more than the basic version.
You sound lovely and I think the kids will treasure these books. Christmas is what YoU make it and It sounds like you are giving them a lot of love.

What a lovely idea. Why don't you do something special Christmas day night time. PJ's on big coats, flask of hot chocolate and go star gazing? Or write letters to yourselves to open Christmas Eve next year!

When I've done photo books in the past I normally look on Groupon, they have some great deals Smile

Cewe have some good deals on. I just ordered a photobook for my dad from them and the photo quality was excellent. Sometimes have deals for if you are buying more than one as well.

Free photo books app as PP mentioned. I used it for one for Father’s Day. I think it was first 20 pages where free not sure how much thereafter and only had to pay postage. I think the postage was around £8 or so.

Excellent thank you @Heyduggeefordays and @Littlemeadow123
I tried the one through groupon but it just won’t work which is a real shame, am now awaiting a refund so I can try again elsewhere!
The photos wouldn’t upload despite trying a variety of gadgets, reviews seemed great on groupon but very different story on trustpilot! Annoying!

Don’t you think your kids would prefer a toy instead of a photo book? How old are they?

Report

Littlemeadow123 · 04/12/2019 08:47

@AlwaysCheddar

I think the OP knows her children best and therefore knows what they would or wouldn't like.

@AlwaysCheddar they have toys coming out of their ears which they never play with. They don’t have space for anymore junk which will just take up space and waste money. They have written Christmas lists and not one of them includes a toy! They’re primary school age and there will be other fun stuff they’ve specifically requested and other people will no doubt be buying them things too.
I don’t feel happy about buying more plastic crap and packaging Just for the sake of it. I’d rather spend money on something more meaningful and long lasting. They will also get cash from my relatives as they all live far away so if they have a burning desire for a toy after Christmas they can buy their own!
