and why?

Mine was being a Dominos Delivery Driver.
For some reason I LOVED it - low responsibility, loads of banter in the workplace, people absolutely LOVED you because you're bringing them pizza. It was also like a puzzle trying to work out the best routes to drop off.

I run several businesses now, and I have a lot less fun (and get a lot less free pizza)

AIBU to think the best jobs can be the crappy, low paid ones?

Mucking our stables and grooming horses every day of the school summer holidays.

I didn't even get paid.

Working alone in a busy off-licence, especially Fri/sat nights.

Working in my old mans local pub when i was 17-20, i worked in the kitchen doing pot wash and the odd bit of cooking, the landlord was the chef!

On my 18th birthday i went into work, which was a saturday and england was playing germany in the world cup, turned up and my boss said we are closing the kitchen and drinking for the day, i didnt buy one drink all day because all the regulars kept buying me drinks!

We where close to a big military garrison and alot of the senior ranks and officers used to drink in the pub, during the summer we would do up to 3 to 4 bbqs, id go into work and set up the bbq area(purpose built, with a roof) and while doing the bbq, we would be drinking, i used to finish most of my half cut!

Since then all my jobs have been shit

A short term contract I did a couple of years ago. It was cutting edge work at the time. I'd only just learned a couple of the necessary skills and was headhunted because I updated my LinkedIn profile with them. Suddenly plunged from my quiet work from home office into a huge corporation where everyone kept applauding me for my knowledge. Very weird as I'm used to working alone with zero appreciation. The team were brilliant - we had such good fun together. Everyone adored the project and the pay was good. But it also made me realise how much I love being my own boss - working my own hours - taking time out in the day to walk in nature or swim in the open air lido and working in the evenings when there's nothing better to do.

Cleaning out rabbit hutches, approximately 30 odd of them. I was a teenager at the time.

Wage was a complete pittance but when I look back, it was definitely satisfying in a way property management wasn't.

I did stink too though.

Like louder, I loved working in a historical archive. I had a lowly admin job but every now and then someone would beckon me over to show me a centuries-old will and I was thrilled. I like hanging out with history geeks.
