AIBU to think liposuction is brutal

I've had liposuction on both legs in the last few weeks and my god, it is so brutal. I honestly feel like I've been in a serious car accident, everything hurts, everything is swollen, I am moving around like I am very old or infirm. Oh and I can't poo because I'm on a hefty dose of codiene to manage the pain, so there's that.

I'm awake, in pain and fed up at 5am (having woken at 1) and pondering... AIBU to wonder if I'll ever feel normal again? Sad

I'm sure you will and you'll forget this pain and think it'll all be worth it.

I'm looking at getting lipo on both legs (lipodemea), would love to follow your updates

Sorry to hear your feeling so bad. Ive no experience of this so forgive my ignoeance but is it normal to still feel this way a few weeks later? What did they tell you about the recoveey process? Do you think you need to be checked by a doctor to rule out any kind of infection?

Hugs

@Hellofromtheotherside2020

I'm having lipo for a similar reason, I have lymphodema following cancer treatment. The results look good so far although the swelling can take 6 months to resolve - even as long as a year!

@Harmonyrays I was aware the recovery would be hard but no idea how hard, the surgeon even told me I'd be in pain afterwards - normally medical professionals usually say something like 'you might be a bit uncomfortable'. I just don't think I was prepared for the reality of it.

I know youve had it done for a specific purpose but its worth highlighting for many people thats its not just a simple procedure where you just walk out the next day suddenly wearing a 3 sizes smaller dress

It doesn't surprise me, i've seen clips of lipo and they're not exactly gentle are they! I'd assume having a condition would only make it more uncomfortable, I hope you feel better soon OP.

I had a tummy tuck and lipo on my sides earlier this eeek still sore. I had it down for medical reasons. C uncomfortable to sleep on my back at the moment and I can’t twist and turn without it stinging

@araiwa I don't think anywhere I've given the impression that it's a simple procedure where you walk out 3 dress sizes smaller, if anything I'm highlighting that it's incredibly painful and with a long, long road to recovery.

Basically, I had no choice to have this surgery, it'd classed as 'debulking' for people with chronic lymphodema, its not because I want to fit into a size 6.

@LunaMay you're right. The anesthetist came to see me after and even she said it was horrible to watch, and as an anesthetist I'm sure she's seen some stuff!
