AIBU to think cheesecake is the best dessert ever invented, bar none? We are having friends over tonight and there's a white chocolate and stem ginger cheesecake in the oven. It smells divine.

Don't think I've ever had a cheesecake I didn't love. Always my default choice if it's on a restaurant menu. Went through a phase of loving Bailey's cheesecake too.

AIBU to think if you don't love cheesecake there's something wrong with you??

@MustardScreams any good recipe for the basque one...that looks so good. ?

SilverySurfer · 30/11/2019 13:00

I loathe cheesecake.

Cactusmum · 30/11/2019 13:05

yep plain baked new york cheesecake! nothing better.. not too sweet and with a hint of lemon to balance the flavour. Divine.

Myshitisreal · 30/11/2019 13:09

My husband love love loves baked new York cheesecake (nearly typoed naked 😂). I think it's the most boring taste although I make for him happily. I use an old delia recipe. I think I'm uneducated in cheesecake, not something I eat often but my friends does make a delicious one with ginger biscuits in the base and a ginger and lemon flavour 🤤. I used to make mint aero one all the time but that was linked to my old job. I'll have to get a cheesecake on for his nibs this Christmas, it's been too long

Myshitisreal · 30/11/2019 13:10

I've never had a baked cheesecake which was flavoured 🤔

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 30/11/2019 13:12

I can take it or leave it.

Oblomov19 · 30/11/2019 13:16

New York plain cheesecake. Creamy. Plain. My Last supper menu pudding item!

Oblomov19 · 30/11/2019 13:20

This Sainsbury's 2 portion one is one of my faves.

Baked cheesecake, yes. Food of the gods.

No bake cheesecake is rubbish and not proper cheesecake.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/11/2019 13:23

The cheesecake I ate in New York was a million times superior to the cheesecake we have here too.

MustardScreams · 30/11/2019 13:24

@CatUnderTheStairs I use this recipe all the time: www.bonappetit.com/recipe/basque-burnt-cheesecake

It is so good, I have to make it every couple of weeks or the cravings get too much Grin

cookiemonster5 · 30/11/2019 13:25

YABU for doing a baked cheesecake. The only decent cheesecakes are non-baked ones made with biscof base.

TheWaiting · 30/11/2019 13:26

YANBU re cheesecake but YABU with the white choc and ginger. I have an intense dislike of both and there’s very few flavours that I feel that way about.
I too prefer the fridge version to the baked version.

Jupiters · 30/11/2019 13:35

Ah now where you've gone wrong here is forgetting about profiteroles...

CatUnderTheStairs · 30/11/2019 13:36

@MustardScreams thank you....I think, my waistline might not....

PineappleDanish · 30/11/2019 13:40

I do like profiteroles. And creme brulee. And lemon tart. And... most desserts to be honest. Would never choose something like an apple pie, steamed sponge pudding, treacle tart but all the rest of it is great.

Stem ginger is my absolutely favourite thing - I could eat it straight out of the jar it is SO good.

sockittome123 · 30/11/2019 13:43

I love cheesecake, baked or not. I make Mary Berry's white chocolate one (baked) the most, as well as lime and ginger (lime top, gingernut base) and Biscoff. But all three of my best friends don't like it, so I have nobody to share my love with Sad

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/11/2019 13:44

Baked or not it’s revolting

Went to the Cheesecake Factory as my sister was convinced she would change me mind - no still revolting

sockittome123 · 30/11/2019 13:44

Are you the same person as me?! We seem to have exactly the same tastes! Apart from white chocolate and stem ginger, that sounds weird!

TyneTeas · 30/11/2019 13:46

I regarded cheesecake as a healthy option when I was pregnant - calcium and fruit in one delicious slice Grin

TyneTeas · 30/11/2019 13:48

For those without cheesecake, a digestive biscuit spread with cream cheese and topped with some jam or marmalade or lemon curd works well in an emergency Grin

Pointless, ever tried red velvet?

DontCallMeBaby · 30/11/2019 13:54

Cheesecake is ... okay. It’s usually massive in restaurants though, too much. Something would have to be very wrong for me to choose it over a bread and butter pudding.

However - the caramel cheesecake chocolates that Hotel Chocolat do are the BEST thing they do.

InterstellarDrifter · 30/11/2019 13:57

I agree with you op. To an extent.
Nothing beats a home made cheesecake. I’ve had some amazing ones. Thankfully, dc1 loves them as much as me and enjoys trying out new recipes a few times a year.
