Christmas present ideas for 13/14 yo boys?

No idea this year.

Ds had a birthday a couple of months ago and had a gaming laptop, so he doesn’t need any technology.

Will get him books, clothes, possibly a bird experience but apart from that I’m pretty stuck this year.

I know this is AIBU but it’s the area I visit most and I know it’s always busy here.

What are you getting your darling teens?

My standard answer for boys presents is an air rifle and some targets - obviously this will depend on whether you have room in the garden (although my Dad & I would often set up a target range down the hallway inside the house)

SweetMarmalade · 03/12/2019 09:26

@Lactarius Ds would love this, an upgrade from his Nerf guns but I just wouldn’t know which to go for.

My 14 year old son is so easy to buy for. He likes scooter parts!! Aside from that I've bought him some clothes (skating/scootering brands) and some vans shoes which he can never get enough of.
I'm getting him his own tool kit too and a nice tool box, so we can buy him tools every birthday/xmas as he wants to be a carpenter!

Hellofromtheotherside2020 · 03/12/2019 09:35

Oh also, his birthday was in July and we bought him some scooter parts and some apple Airpods to use with his iPad.

I have a 12 nearly 13yo and a 15yo, and they are getting, respectively,
Nice wallet
Aftershave
Portable charger
5mm wet suit
Gaming headphones
Cluedo
Basketball net and ball for outside
Really cool drone from Hamleys we saw when we were there and I sneakily bought.
Other stuff is more for their hobbies etc.

bestbefore · 03/12/2019 09:45

@Monr0e does your ds really get all that at Xmas? And you said it's a small pile? Even trainers are £100+++ Confused

Fucck · 03/12/2019 10:04

Ds 13 is getting (across us, my parents and ILs)

3D printing pen
Unicycle
Bedside table
Dressing gown
Headphones
Phone case
Clothes
New trainers
Accessories for his hobby
Loads of sweets/choc
Underwear
Socks
Some travel games

I had gig tickets & Fitbit as back up options but I think he's got enough now.

Redglitter · 03/12/2019 10:11

What about a Young Driver voucher. They're an absolute favourite here.

Fucck · 03/12/2019 10:26

Even trainers are £100+++

All depends on the trainers! We got ds some perfectly acceptable Adidas trainers for less than £40. I have nephews who insist on fancy ones though but more fool SIL for indulging them.

kjhkj · 03/12/2019 10:31

DS1 (14) is getting

Hamilton tickets
Hamilton book
Hamilton piano score
new hockey stick
hoodie
jeans
top
onesie
dressing gown
cinema tickets for star wars
book set
1kg bag of lindor balls
school bag
leather washbag
phone case
PS4 game x 2
bathbomb
electric shock pen
Marvel encyclopedia
Lindt chocolate reindeer
Teddy bear fabric fluffy bedding.

and then shared with his brother:
board game
marvel lego
retro tomb raider game

scaredycatz · 03/12/2019 10:39

I'm totally stuck for what to get my DS. The only thing he really likes is Xbox and he's got everything he needs for that 🙈

AuntyElle · 03/12/2019 11:40

OP, there’s a very pricy ‘fiddle pen’ on the Wicked Uncle site, but if you google there’s loads of different cheaper types.

Monr0e · 03/12/2019 12:21

@bestbefore no DS will not be getting all those things for Christmas. I said at the beginning of my post that they were things that he has either had or is getting. Most of what I suggested he has had previously for birthdays or Christmas and they have gone down well so recommending them for others.

And his trainers when we buy them will not be costing £100, they are usually on offer in sports direct Smile

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 03/12/2019 13:25

Boots / trainers / hoodies / jeans..
Ds1 this year I’m getting a one year Spotify premium subscription (currently on offer, 10 months for the price of 12).
Ds2 has a new phone (he was needing one anyway, but I’m upgrading his contract and I’m getting him a nicer handset as a surprise).
Other years I’ve bought magazine subscriptions, cinema tickets, groupon vouchers for different places..

phlebasconsidered · 03/12/2019 13:44

My ds is obsessed with fishing - he's easy! New rod, lures, flies, a head torch, new rod licence and new fish scales plus a second-hand bivvy. Done!

My 12 year old daughter on the other hand, will be a mare to buy for.

Pannalash · 03/12/2019 14:01

@EleanorLavish please would you let me know which drone you’ve gone for. My DS would love one, but I’m a bit lost with all choice. Much appreciated.

Sistercharlie · 03/12/2019 14:05

Front have a ds but have lots of godsons this age!

They will be receiving:

sweatshirts
personalised socks with dogs/faces printed on them
fossils + explanatory book (bought separately)
How Things Work book (for 11 year old actually)
bat detector

Sistercharlie · 03/12/2019 14:06

Front?? Confused

Don't have!

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 03/12/2019 14:32

Bit of a random one.. ds(13) got really interested in MREs (military style ration packs) after seeing youtubers demonstrating them. He did order one for himself (I have to say it was quite good fun!) but I might get him another one as a stocking filler.

Lactarius · 03/12/2019 19:00

@SweetMarmalade Best way to get one would be just to go to a local gunshop and talk to them - I'd suggest .177 break barrel for plinking targets but I'm not up to date on what's available.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 03/12/2019 19:36

@SweetMarmalade if you do want to find out about air rifles, there's a prepper site called Ronnie Sunshine's and they are very knowledgeable and helpful. They can advise you about anything and everything you might want to know to help you decide (and be legal!) They do bows and arrows and crossbows too... Xmas Grin

Dinnertime22 · 03/12/2019 22:22

A book about poo facts off Amazon. There is one about farts too.
A coin jar counter and some bath bombs. Sweets and a couple of Hype tops.

smemorata · 04/12/2019 06:02

Following for ideas, although ds is only really interested in football!

calmpuppycrazykids · 04/12/2019 06:38

My Ds is 13 and xbox mad but this is the first year he has asked for things that are not xbox related

Hoolajerry · 04/12/2019 06:48

My 14 year old ds has
