To hate this time of year? Another sickness bug!

I’m struggling a lot at the moment. My youngest came down with a sickness bug last Monday. This was followed by a fever and a week solid of an awful cough. I posted on here at the time because I was trying to study for an exam and take care of poorly DD at the same time. Luckily I managed to pass the exam and DD has finally started being able to sleep through the night after spending the last week being up loads because of this relentless cough.

We are both exhausted. Just as things are settling down, my eldest has come down with a sickness bug. It’s 10 days since my youngest came down with hers so I’m thinking it could be an entirely different bug so I suppose my youngest is at risk of catching this.

I’m just really struggling with the sleep deprivation 😔 I also feel awful for DD who is now going to miss her best friends birthday party. I know there are people out there dealing with a lot worse than this but I’m just feeling completely drained by all of this 😢

I’m just wondering... does anyone know if its okay if I have to take my eldest (with sickness bug) to nursery tomorrow to drop my youngest off?

YNBU winter can do one. We're on our 4th ear infection since October combined this last time with d&v. It's the most wonderful time of the year. NOT! As for your question, my head says no the sick one shouldn't enter nursery or school but in reality what else can you do? Do you have someone who can do the drop off/pick up for you?

Tell me about it, in the last 4 weeks dc1(17) has had shingles, norovirus and now is on antibiotics and steroids for asthma. Missed an alevel mock today as had togo to docs this morning.
Just seems to be one thing after another

It's not just me who loathes it when the dc are sick then? Yanbu.

Mammatino · 28/11/2019 10:53

I am with you all the way. Coughs, colds, ear infections D & V. DS currently at home with chest infection, I have the worst sore throat I've had in 20 years. I woke up at 4 am before the heating kicked in and quietly had a little cry, I couldn't even swallow. Pathetically sorry for myself. I am currently worrying myself sick about DS's attendence record and getting into trouble with school. It's like a doctors surgery in his classroom with kids really really ill taken into school. I hope you all feel better soon.

I’m sorry you are all dealing with this as well! It’s just relentless at times. Once their immune system is down, that’s it!! 😔

I can’t think of anyone who can help me with nursery drop off. I’m wondering if I call the nursery, if they could arrange for someone to meet me outside. The nursery is just a section of a large building so they’d need to come all the way out. I’m not sure if it’s cheeky to ask that of them.

Couldn’t agree more.

We all (7 of us) had a sickness bug the last weekend of half term/first 2 days of term.

Sunday before the one we’ve just had dc3(6) started being sick again so had another 2 days off.

Dc5(2) has had an awful case of bronchilitis last week

3am Tuesday dc4(4) wakes at 3am & is sick so he’s home until tomorrow.

My asthma, along with dc4’s, is playing up something chronic.

Oh & my cats thyroid levels have gone haywire which is also causing issues with her liver & kidneys & because of this the poor old girl is weeing anywhere & everywhere (vets are confident that all will be ok with some adjustments to her medicine though thankfully).

I’m looking forward to the cold crisp weather that’s on the way, I’m sure the damp helps spread the bugs.

Brew Cake & Wine for all of us!

Oh & our school bring the non sicky ones out to me through reception if I call & ask (they did it when my youngest 2 had chicken pox as well).
