I've just been asked for ID in Argos for a bloody toaster. A toaster.

I was bloody gobsmacked. 😂😂😂

ID'd for alcohol and some medications last week. Age 47. I was in the US though so luckily had my passport with me. The woman ahead of me who was at least 2 decades older than me with similar purchases also got asked. The checkout assistant looked about 12. Watching her work out how old I am from my DOB was quite entertaining.

I got ID’d for calpol last week. I’m 30 and certainly do not look like a 16 year old anymore!

DD was asked for ID in CEX when buying a DVD.
She has recently turned 15. Fair enough you might say.

Except she was buying a 12 rated film, and the till operator thought she might only be 11. Blush
We've given her a photocopy of her passport to carry with her now.

Pawsecco and Champaws. Saw it in the pet shop today but I didn't buy it as I didn't have ID on me. Oh no, hang on, I didn't buy it because the whole notion of a celebratory drink for a dog is ridiculous.

A man in front of me today got id'd for fire lighters. In his 50s with a purchase of kindling and wood. He didn't have any Id on him- only popped out for wood! Luckily I did and was able to 'buy' them for him ( with his cash). The shop assistant wasn't sure this was allowed either, but eventually gave in to the pressure of about 5 customers telling her it was 'common sense to let him/ her'.
Bloody ridiculous.

My daughter got ID'd buying Toy Story 4 in Tesco which is a 12 rated one I believe. She is 19.

Whereas my 11 year old (who looks about 8) didn't get stopped self-scanning two packets of paracetamol and paying for them with a child's pre-paid debit card the other day!

Kiki275 · 27/11/2019 22:12

Do you know you have to be at least one year old to buy clothes in Asda with scan as you shop?x

im 38 and apart froma birth certificate(that i dont have)i have no id

i dont drink(never tried to buy one) ,dont drive,
dont go to pubs or clubs(now or when i was younger,i spend my teen/20s in cinemas or swimming nightly so ive never bought a round or anything like that) and only holidayed in the uk for years,i used to have a passport but i let it run out

i got asked for id but a teenager in poundland for buying painting equipment,ok she was probably only doing her job

it was bottle paint, brushes, paper and pva glue.i had a 15 y old and a 9 y old with me so im clearly "of age"

after explaining my circumstances she actually refused me my stuff, she even called over a manager as they were really gobsmacked that no one had any id,all i have are bank cards and credit cards

i left fuming, the 15 y old found it hilarious, half an hour later he said he wanted to go to greggs alone and can he have the bank card so i gave it to him while i was i another shop

he came back grinning with the stuff in a bag

he went through the self service without being questioned or age verified(you know when the machine beeps for a worker)

ok he is big for 15 hes 6ft 2 but im bloody 6gft myself

we left the other shop and legged it to the car park just incase(where my partner was waiting)

im using home bargains in future
