How much to charge for these?

So very simply put I'm making items for a school fayre with a group of children. They wanted to make hot chocolate reindeer cones - clear cone bags filled with a serving of hot chocolate, chocolate buttons/drops and marshmallows. With a candy cane on the side.

We have around 100 to make and sell, ingredient's cost about £60 (fair trade good quality chocolate etc).
I was thinking of charging around £1.50-£2 for these? Someone else suggested £1 and someone went for £2 as it is a 'nicer' chocolate powder and you'd spend more than that at a cafe/coffee shop for basic powder, hot water, toppings being extra.
We do need to make money for the school so can't really go below £1.

What would you pay/be happy for your children to spend at a fayre on this?

I think $2 is fair. What about $2 each, or 2 for $3?

damnthatanxiety · 27/11/2019 13:58

how did you end up spending £60 on the ingredients? It seems very high.

I think it depends where you live, affluent area £2 less affluent £1. Most parents at my sons school couldn’t afford to waste £2 but could manage £1 it’s hard if you have multiple children. I would charge £1 you don’t want to have any left!

@P1nkHeartLovesCake thanks for that. Unfortunately a lot of what is done in schools is shit for the environment.

Mass produced leaflets for no reason. Worksheets constantly printed because there's no textbook. Certificates produced each week for no real reason and then 300-400 odd at the end of the year for the same reason.

@damnthatanxiety £60 for 100 cones - 60p each cone.
Hot chocolate, chocolate buttons/drops, marshmallows, little eyes, red noses, the physical cone, cone ties and pipe cleaners for antlers. 8 items, less than 10p per item on average.

£2 each or 2 for £3, but clear poster to let people know it's fair trade etc. And all profits to school.

sailorcherries · 27/11/2019 15:21

Yeah I'm thinking the £1.75 each or two for £3 or £2 each or two for £3 might be good and then the three for £5.

@sailorcherries doesnt mean you have to join in with the lack of environmental consideration though does it? This is exactly the problem

£1 I'm so glad my school sacked off fairs and fetes we pay £10 a month on so, so much less painful and saves time and effort and probably makes more money.

inwood · 27/11/2019 16:32

£1.75 would be a pita for change!

3weemonkeys · 27/11/2019 17:09

£2 but make sure you are not set up beside the sweet/chocolate tombola stall where every 50p ticket is a winner.

TeenPlusTwenties · 27/11/2019 18:26

Yeah I'm thinking the £1.75 each

Noooooooo!

Your treasurer will hate you (or if you are the treasurer you'll hate yourself). All process need to end in a zero. It makes the float more complicated && the takings become a real pain to count with all those 5p coins wandering around the place.

TeenPlusTwenties · 27/11/2019 18:27

prices not process!

sailorcherries · 27/11/2019 18:58

£1.50 it is then 😂
