When you have plans or want to get out of the house?!

My two are both asleep, and I swear it's because I wanted to be out of the house at 2pm.
If I wanted to stay in and nap whilst they nap, you know one of them would wake early and the other would refuse to nap!

They must know!

(I know I could wake them; but it's not that important that we went out at 2. Plus I don't want two grumpy kids all afternoon. )

Oh definitely. My two are both good at sleeping in the morning, neither early risers, but when the rare chance of a lie-in occurs? Both up and raring to go at the crack of dawn.

My eldest used to have a sixth sense of me getting into bed. It wouldnt matter how early or late I was, or how long she'd already been asleep. Every night without fail I'd get in - wait a moment to be sure - snuggle down and get comfy - then bam she was awake. Even from a different room! It drove me barmy!

Elmo311 · 26/11/2019 14:05

@EyeDrops Haha! I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one!
Does it get better?

As babies, mine always knew when I was about to eat something. That was their cue to wake up and start screaming

Snowflake9 · 26/11/2019 14:09

My baby knows even when fast asleep when I sit down with him.

He knows when I really need the loo, and has a sixth sense for the shower 😂😂😂

CloudPop · 26/11/2019 14:10

They can also spot a hangover from 1000 paces. Cue super early and boisterous wake up.

salypre · 26/11/2019 14:14

Ahh this was me this morning. Had the dentist at have 8 and I was like yeah sure my one year old wakes up at 6.30... nope not today , ended up waking him at 8am !

showmewhatyougot · 26/11/2019 14:18

It's not even just little ones my DS(4) gets up at 5:30 like clockwork every morning. But if we have early plans at the weekend, and you don't set an alarm, you best believe he will sleep until 8-9 :|

He also NEVER naps, but I'm amazed how many times he's fell asleep before we need to leave the house.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 26/11/2019 14:23

Oh yeah every time? If we have an appointment her naps always seem to extend to the point I have to wake her, then she always decides to have a massive poop as we're walking out the door.

She also gets up at 4:45am every day, apart from when DP says "I'll get up with her tomorrow so you can have a lie in". Then she ends up sleeping until 8.

Honeybee85 · 26/11/2019 14:27

DS is a baby. He will sleep even when I hoover around his bed. He will sleep when I clearly tell the cat off for throwing stuff off the table. He will sleep when the doorbell rings.

But when I quietly sneak off to the kitchen to open the fridge and finally eat lunch, he will wake up and scream. Idem if I tiptoe towards the toilet.
Or just sit down on the sofa to read a book.

Elmo311 · 26/11/2019 14:29

These replies are making me chuckle ! So glad I'm not alone!
They're so lucky that they are cute!!!!

My DD fell asleep in the car earlier. Stayed asleep as I carried her in. Stayed asleep when I took her coat off. Stayed asleep whilst I tried to unfold a blanket to lie her on one handed. Stayed asleep as a laid her down.

Woke up as soon as I put the kettle on. Hmm

moleeye · 26/11/2019 14:32

Yes! He's been a nightmare for lunchtime napping lately so I thought I'd go hairdressers at 2pm as I've got a posh lunch date with friends tomorrow.

Nope. He is STILL ASLEEP!

Now I'll have to do my own hair 😂

HappyDinosaur · 26/11/2019 14:35

YANBU mine likes to have a big poo just as were about to leave. Every time!

HappyDinosaur · 26/11/2019 14:36

*we're

OvalCanvas · 26/11/2019 14:39

Mine only sleeps in past 6 on a weekday when I have to get his big sister up for school. At weekends he's sitting up grinning and ready for the day by this time.

Kay1341 · 26/11/2019 14:41

Our baby DS has a sixth sense to wake up the moment I make myself a cuppa or have just painted my nails.

Elmo311 · 26/11/2019 14:41

They've just woken up at the same time, eldest in a terrible mood so I don't think we will do what I had planned!

Whist you're all here, what do you do to entertain them when it's wet out ?
We've done all the drawing , playing, etc! There's been a bit too much TV lately!

They definitely know.. ds was 12 weeks old when he cottoned onto Friday morning meant baby group.. we needed to be up no later than 8 and out the door by 9 or I’d never make it, he must not have liked the whole make friends on the blanket atmosphere as he now sleeps till 10 on Friday mornings and only Friday mornings Grin

Yesterday we had to pick up his prescription too, after half 4 chemist shuts at half 5. So I figured leave at 4 for the walk down get the shopping and be in the chemist for about 4:45. Fed ds at 3 and went to get myself ready, sorted the dogs etc.. walking back down stairs after getting our coat at 3.55pm the house stunk of shit... full change, wash and out the door like a mad woman at 4.20. That one might’ve been coincidence but the baby groups so bloody suspicious Grin

RuggerHug · 26/11/2019 14:46

Yup. Frantic running around getting stuff done at nap time. No matter how long or short I'm going, the second I finish and get my arse on the couch with a hot coffee ....HELLOOOOOOOOOO MOTHER!!!

Retpark101 · 26/11/2019 14:50

DD is 11 months and everytime I sit down to eat a meal she will do the biggest poo Confused

blubelle7 · 26/11/2019 15:55

Mine will be in bed quiet at 7pm and I tidy up. By 9pm when I'm finally sitting down for dinner, always fork to my mouth he wakes up. Tbh if I eat dinner immediately after he will wake up. And yes the same to waiting until you get comfy in bed before wailing. He always stays up all night when I have an early morning or sleeps until midday when I have plans to go out

Elmo311 · 26/11/2019 16:40

I've made no plans for tomorrow so of course the routine will go well!

As I've typed that I've already thought of something to do tomorrow. Shit!

HappyDinosaur Don't you know that all babies are programmed to poo just before you're about to leave the house? Preferably, once you've got the big thick snow suit on and they're strapped into their buggy/car seat.

I think it's something to do with the book of baby rules they're given to read just before they're born; it's full of that sort of thing.

My, now, 41 year old first born had a knack for timing his waking up at night at exactly the moment my his father and I were about to have sex; every single time.

pigsDOfly · 26/11/2019 17:38

*Don't know why there's a 'my' in there referring to my child's father. Obviously, it wasn't my father.
