Outskirts of London...help!

Posting here as I don't know where to put it!!

We're taking our DS to London soon and we plan to do all of the main tourist attractions.

We're travelling from the Midlands and ideally will go by train. Staying in be central London is so expensive so we were hoping to find somewhere on the outskirts that still had easy access.

We need to get a train directly there from the midlands and it also needs to have easy links into the city centre.... can anyone advise please?

We're coming in to Euston!

Premier Inn Perivale, across the road(A40, but there’s a bridge) from the Central line station. 15 mins Oxford St.
Free parking, if you’re driving.

Try Days Inns and Premier Inns and Travelodges in Kennington and Brixton

Very Close to tubes and only a tiny number of stops to get you central. Kennington especially you can walk to the south bank in 10 minutes.

The Days Inn (it calls itself Waterloo) is showing a rate of £109 a night. Gets good reviews (the low reviews range from rooms being small to a restricted menu in the restaurant.Hmm)

You can try Walthamstow Central - there’s a travelodge just outside the station. It’s on the Victoria line so 15/20 minutes to Euston and it’s a good line for getting about London.

There's a good Premier Inn close to Euston.

Or get the Northern Line from Euston to Bank and get the DLR to the Ibis at Canary Wharf or Royal Docks - if it's a weekend, the prices can often be really good.

Or get the Norther Line from Euston South to Balham, and stay at the Travelodge in Balham - really handy position right next to the tube.

I usually stay at YHA St Pancras. Right across the road from the station and a short walk to Euston.

Try looking at hotels in the Pimlico area of London most hotels are within 10mins walking of either Victoria or Pimlico tube stations and a 15 minutes from Buckingham Palace. The Ramanos or the Belgrave house hotel or the easyJet hotel are all ones memebers of my family have used when coming to visit me and theirs to many for my house they are basic but they are all clean and have very nice staff. Go on booking.com and look up Pimlico there’s loads of hotels just checks reviews on tripadvisor.

We stay at Docklands Travelodge.
It’s £70 a night in Spring.
Parking, restaurant attached and all night bar.
5 min walk to Docklands light railway station.
They have a Family Room too.

My family never pay over £80 per night forgot to add.

If you are coming into Euston and are happy staying really on the outskirts of London to save money, perhaps one of the commuter stations on the same line would work for you? It will be a lot cheaper.

Watford Junction: Travelodge has rooms from £24. Fast commuter trains are 20 minutes (but you need to factor in that you will need to buy a ticket, under 11s are still free). There is a tube station but it is a much slower route. Handy for Harry Potter studios though!

Wembley: Chain hotels start from under £40. Tube and overground stations. Good if you want to do a Wembley Stadium tour.

I can also recommend this basic but nice place right in the centre of town (by Marble Arch) prices are about £100 for a double twin/£120 for a triple:

We stayed at the Premier Inn at The Angel, Islington. Just up the road from Euston and Kings Cross. Not expensive, clean room with air con and a view over to the City and the skyscrapers. The Angel is a good location for the tube to the West End or to the City and St Pauls, plus it is a trendy, buzzing area in its own right. Lots of restaurants and bars. If you want a change from central London, you can hop on a bus up to Highgate and Hampstead Heath, great on a sunyy day.

@Isithometimeyet0987 we've booked one at Pimlico :)

Is focussed on the outskirts to save a bit of money but this was reasonable priced.

Thanks so much, everyone!
