Just used a MN put down on my 8 year old

My 8 year old DS is a ball of rudeness and obnoxiousness recently. It's becoming rather tedious.
Just now after yet another unnecessary comment, I looked him dead in the eye and said 'did you mean to be so rude?'
He had the decency to look abashed and has since completely shut up.

Thanks Mumsnet!

I've used "no is a complete sentence" on teen DS before when no has seemingly meant - nag some more!

Unfortunately I didn't think it through as he also tells me that Hmm

I love this thread Smile

I've used it several times at school. I normally get a bashful 'Sorry, Miss'.

Florencenotflo · 25/11/2019 17:53

Maybe leave it another 10 years or so before you use 'fuck off to the far side of fuck...' 😂

highheelsandweathercocks · 25/11/2019 18:50

@Florencenotflo
I may have muttered that under my breath in the past...

I'm muttering fuck off you knob a lot just quietly enough so my 12 year old doesn't hear currently. Makes me feel better!

Have you told him he ought to spend his spare time "batch cooking", rather than doing anything that might vaguely interest him? That'd sort him out, OP.

KurriKurri · 25/11/2019 19:33

My go to phrase was 'I'm not at home to Mr Rude' followed by feigned deafness until I was spoken to politely.

I used it with children I worked with as well - such that I could hear them muttering to each other 'stop talking - Mrs Kurri's not at home to Mr or Miss Rude' Grin
