To let people know how to spoil their ballot?

This election has really brought it home to me how uncomfortable I am voting for any of the three main parties. I don't want to vote for the local Independent on a donkey sanctuary ticket* just because I feel I have to vote for someone. If I do that my concerns about the other parties goes unnoticed.
So tonight Matthew, I'll be spoiling my ballot. It has to be done a certain way to count as spoilt. If enough of us do this then voices will be heard.
advice on how to do it correctly
I'm going to pop my AIBU Vote Button cherry on this thread as it seems apt.
*Or whatever the local issue is.

Repeating here what others have said re vote counting, (I've been doing it for years) Spoilt ballots, or anything that looks a bit iffy, are given to the section supervisor, they and the candidates look at them and see if there is a reason to include or ignore, as sometimes a mark in one candidate's space can be considered as a vote, tho very rarely. As long as the total votes for the box being counted is correct, i.e. 100 votes in the box, 80 for A,15 for B, 5 spoilt, that's all that matters.
Mind you, I've seen some corking comments over the years, certainly brightened my night at 2 in the morning!

Aren't you a charmer?

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 27/11/2019 13:00

Gosh, biglight you have a delightful grasp of language there. Perhaps have a chamomile tea and a bit of a lie down.
Lying you always say the nicest things to me. I'd vote for you too btw.
Bellini I'm wondering if I've somehow sock puppeted myself without knowing. Half Irish, tick . Half Jewish tick. Voted Labour most of our considerable lives, tick
80s indie , tick .
I think your contribution of Shot By Both Sides is just perfect. I bloody love that song. I'll be singing it on my way to the polling station.

rufflecrow funny you should say that about my name. I originally saw it in a thread and was OvariesBeforeBroveries term for ReesMogg. It seemed like a good nickname for me and I've had it for years now.
So it started off with political connotations.

What the Hell is the point? It's so typical of this country's messed up politics. Just do something positive instead.

bellinisurge · 27/11/2019 13:06

@HoofWankingSpangleCunt you are fabulously sweary in your username. And it looks like we have rather a lot in common! I hope people don't have a go at you because they think you are me.

CaptainGT · 27/11/2019 13:11

Thought that was a really useful website. Thanks for sharing. :D

I spoil my ballot. My parents get points off his mortgage if we contribute to society by voting. But as you say: I just do not agree with any of the available options.

toomuchtooold · 27/11/2019 13:11

I don't get it. You genuinely don't have the slightest preference, even for one candidate over another regardless of party?

Whenever I hear "x spoiled ballot papers" I think "x people who do things like drawing their own speed limit signs and post them at the end of their garden." I mean I could see it in the days befote social media and the internet, but if you have an opinion these days it couldn't be easier to share it (in fact here we are).

bellinisurge · 27/11/2019 13:16

Nope toomuchtooold , not a single one. Every time I see a policy that looks appealing, it is squashed by other policies or the character and personal qualities of the people leading the party in question.

RuffleCrow · 27/11/2019 14:06

My political psychic powers are otherwise useless @HoofWankingSpangleCunt but glad they served a purpose this time! Grin

@toomuchtooold I used to think exactly the same as you - but politics has taken a dramatic nosedive in the past five or six years (it was hardly glorious to begin with) and yes, I genuinely can't choose between:
a) claims men and women are biologically identical
b) determined to push us over the cliff on Brexit
c)thinks racism and religious hatred is fine as long as the targets are Jewish
d)Agrees with one or all of the above.

I challenge you to pick one from my list to vote for because that's the choice where i live.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 27/11/2019 16:06

And vice versa Bellini surge

That is the crux of it yes, too much throw in a Tory heartland and my vote counts for zilch anyway.

I don't know how feeling disillusioned with the political climate means I'm likely to put up my own traffic signs Confused

And what positive thing do you think I should do instead lavender? The mind boggles.

GT thank you. It was worth posting this thread just for that. (Not that I don't welcome other contributions).

Thank you ruffle for eloquently breaking down the reasons why I can't vote for any of the big three.
