...for Christmas. I would love to get her a Fortnum and Masons but can’t afford it :( Can anyone recommend a really lovely hamper for around the 50 quid mark?

Have a look on prestigehampers.co.uk. We get one every year, the quality is amazing.

mrsbyers · 24/11/2019 20:40

Ringtons do some great hampers

Herocomplex · 24/11/2019 20:43

Bettys

OrangeZog · 24/11/2019 20:43

You could make your own.

recklessgran · 24/11/2019 20:46

Could you make your own? That way you can personalise it to suit your mum perfectly. We have a lovely garden centre near us that sells beautiful and unusual luxury food. Do you have somewhere like that or a good deli near you? Could make a lovely hamper for 50 quid.

MsSquiz · 24/11/2019 20:52

You could make one using F&M products. That's what we've done for PIL this year as they don't drink, prefer instant coffee & don't drink tea (most of the F&M ready made hampers include them)

So we've picked condiments, preserves and snack items they will like but probably wouldn't buy in the norm.

And we bought hamper basket from amazon (with cellophane & shredded tissue) to put it all together

IndigoHexagon · 24/11/2019 20:53

I stumbled upon these a while back and I love them as a treat!

Floralnomad · 24/11/2019 20:55

For that budget you would definitely be better making up your own .

IndigoHexagon · 24/11/2019 20:55

They do other hampers too, including Christmas ones.

mnahmnah · 24/11/2019 20:59

I second Betty’s. Lovely treats and presentation

thebluearsefly · 24/11/2019 21:39

Thanks all! I think making my own is a really good idea! Looking up hampers on amazon now - thanks for all comments

We've made our own (Waitrose normally do a nice box) and it was a lot better value. Some of the Waitrose and M&S ones are nice.

Jiggeriepokerie · 24/11/2019 21:44

M&S have the hamper baskets and cellophane etc so you can make your own.

katmarie · 24/11/2019 21:55

If you have a home bargains or b&m near you they always have nice hamper baskets for not too much money, I've used them to make lots of hampers over the years.

implantsandaDyson · 24/11/2019 21:59

I made up one last week for an ill friend, I got my basket from the Works, it was a perfect size and came with ribbon and cellophane.

TheNestedIf · 24/11/2019 22:11

You can get good hamper baskets/kits from Hobbycraft.

I did one for my dad for a couple of years and filled then it with things he likes rather than get a generic one with the odd thing he wouldn't enjoy.

JennyBlueWren · 24/11/2019 22:14

Do you have a local place which do hampers? In our town there's a lovely shop which make up hampers to suit a given budget and/or theme. They do local products, eco products and suit different dietary needs. There stuff is high quality and also feels good to support a local business.

Belindabelle · 24/11/2019 22:28

I make up hampers for my MIL most years. I sometimes use a shopping bag instead of a hamper. You could buy a F&M one. I have also used a nice planter and included some bulbs for her to plant along with some other gardening bits. One year I used a fancy waster paper bin and filled it with random craft bits I knew she would love.

You could include candles, napkins, hand cream etc as well as food and drink.

CherryPlum · 24/11/2019 22:30

The Works sell hamper kits for making your own

Fightingbeing40 · 24/11/2019 22:32

Try smart gift solutions- you can add your own products and personalise with card/photo- used them last year and my aunt loved it and was able to add items suitable to everyone in the family

ScandiGirl10 · 24/11/2019 22:33

Second vote for Betty’s they are beautiful www.bettys.co.uk/christmas/christmas-gifts-and-hampers

Drum2018 · 24/11/2019 22:36

I'd defineitly make my own - it would work out cheaper and you can cater for her personal taste.

Herocomplex · 25/11/2019 08:27

Are you sending it or giving it? If sending bear in mind the weight of the items and the basket/container.

lidoshuffle · 25/11/2019 18:53

@thebluearsefly This place was in the Daily Mail today (but don't let that put you off). The contents are worth more than the individual items, which seems to be very unusual.

Oh, but the Christmas hampers are still expensive Back to Plan A and make your own, OP!Smile
