DD is 2 an started to vomit at 4am. Shes since had water and a biscuit then a quarter of a very bland sandwich at dinner so not much what so ever

She's still being sick with a temp of 37.5 - 37.8
She's red hot but her hands and feet are ice cold to the point their purple and she's having the odd shakes.

She's just been sick all over me again but has fell asleep now

I don't want to be an over panicked parent as I know their is a bug going around. And She's in the doctors later today as I like to be safe then sorry but from other people's experiences would you just take her now or wait ?
She's settled on me but she won't leave my side or let me put her down so she's clearly achey all over an just super wingey in general. She's okay for 20 mins once she's had calpol but after that it's back to the beginning. Iv not noticed any rashes but I know their is meningitis and septicimia that can happen without rashes (3 of my nephews had it at once meningitis and 2 didn't get s rash) so I am very much on egg shells

Don't know what to do for the best?

Thank you everyone. The minor injuries unit near home is a 3.5 hour wait I rang to check before I went an thats for triage alone inc children's wait times so iv gone and sat in the doctors as she spiked to 38.5. It's gone down pretty quick but im not taking that risk it just doesn't feel right and I know from previous experience I know my kids best and I know when something is up! So am I heck willing to wait any longer

Just when my little boy fell ill I took him straight a and e. The doctor literally said the words your an over worried parent. I knew I f*ing wasn't. Sent me home saying he's fine. 2 hours later he started fitting and turned out he has severe epilepsy that came from no where but I knew something was wrong when I took him they just didn't belive me! So yep I ain't having it this time I'm worried sick because this is how he started

Il keep you updated when I'm home xx

Op, I hope your little girl is ok and you are doing the right thing in taking her to the Doctors. Keep us updated.

FusionChefGeoff · 22/11/2019 16:03

Cold hands and feet are a very bad sign - definitely don't let Drs make you feel bad for protecting your child.

slipperywhensparticus · 22/11/2019 16:06

Hope she is ok

Upsiedasie · 22/11/2019 16:11

Don’t take medical advice from mn.

Call 111 if you’re worried and they will triage appropriately.

I understand you’re worried but you do sound quite anxious. Going to a GP surgery with a (likely) sickness bug probably isn’t the best idea but you’re there now.

Hope DD is ok.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 22/11/2019 16:19

Hope all ok OP- sounds like the flu to me but better to get it checked

msmith501 · 22/11/2019 16:22

I think the rule with young children is never ever delay seeking help if you are worried. The doctor who said you over worried is an idiot. Comments like that are why some kids get very seriously ill. Also, waiting times are irrelevant. Patients are seen in the priority of the symptoms they present with. I don't mean to be rude or even critical but whilst you were busy asking people on this forum, you could have gone to A and E and sought the opinion of experts. Fingers crossed obviously OP.

Witchend · 22/11/2019 16:25

Cold hand and feet can be a bad sign, but in all three of my dc it's simply a sign of them having a temperature.
It's worth having them checked if you're worried (my dsis is a GP and she says with that age it's either they need to be seen or quick, so they don't mind)
However there's nothing on that list that would worry me particularly.

FreeStar · 22/11/2019 16:34

I wouldn't be worried- it just sounds like a tummy bug. Shivering and feeling cold are just symptoms of a high temperature. Her hands and feet are cold because her body has diverted the blood flow to the organs to help clear the infection. Her cheeks and forehead should feel warmer than usual. Keep giving call or ibuprofen. She's bound to feel horrible so no wonder she's clingy.

CottonSock · 22/11/2019 16:38

I would look at the overall picture, esp if she is weeing or not.
My dd2 has had suspected sepsis twice this month after nasty ear infection. Once she was admitted for iv. They look at the picture overall, like are they communicating, happy, pale etc. Once my dd had a worryingly low temp of 35.7 so that got scary.
Hope you get seen and she's ok.

BarbarAnna · 22/11/2019 16:45

Good luck. Hope she feels better soon.

justasking111 · 22/11/2019 16:56

Hope she improves soon for you. You can only work on instinct when they are so young.

MzHz · 22/11/2019 16:59

Hope all is going better?

My ds can run horrendously high temperatures and his hands go cold, fingernails blue etc - even auditory hallucinations sometimes!

He’s almost 14yo... still gets it, your dd should be ok, but you’re in the right place to make sure there’s nothing untoward.

Good luck to you and to little one!

coffeeoclock · 22/11/2019 17:13

Sounds like a bug and a minor temp. I certainly wouldn't be taking to a doctors surgery or hospital at this point as you'll just infect everyone else!

Rest & fluids for 24hrs and see how she is then.

LucyAutumn · 22/11/2019 17:16

Hope everything's ok OP Flowers

littlepaddypaws · 22/11/2019 17:46

tbh i would get checked out as opposed to random not medicals on here, there is some very odd advice. Hmm

BarbarAnna · 22/11/2019 17:52

@littlepaddypaws totally agree. People being very dismissive.

Sweetpeach3 · 22/11/2019 18:01

@littlepaddypaws odd advice and very judgemental people thinking they know best! Lol

But she seems okay now. Her temp has come RIGHT down and the doctor said if she spikes again so quickly and she's still being sick call 111 but other then that just carry on as I am

Just more cautious as last time my DS had a temp and wasn't himself that's when I got told I was being a over worried mum and to go home an stop wasting time. People posting saying don't infect other people---- I'm really not and that isn't my intention but when this happened to my son 3 months ago and he ended up having a drop seizure after I took him to get checked and was fobbed off he Seriously hurt himself and was hospitalised for 2 weeks at the age of 3.

I posted this when she fell asleep on my lap so I was NOT wasting time** when I could of been in a and e asking for other opinions why she's throwing up. She was settled on me asleep and sleep is a brilliant medicine for toddlers who aren't well and I had 5mins to process in my own head what her symptoms are like and what I'm going to do about them and I did what I thought best and I took her but thanks anyway for the helpful and genuine responses
Think anyone would be over cautious in my shoes xx

StarlingsInSummer · 22/11/2019 18:06

Glad she’s improving, OP. BTW, Calpol has paracetamol in it and is fine in an empty stomach. Calprofen or baby ibuprofen can irritate an empty stomach, so if you decide to give painkiller, Calpol is better.

Sweetpeach3 · 22/11/2019 18:08

@StarlingsInSummer thank you! She's just had some nuggets and chips with her brother and they seem to be staying down but I do only stick to calpol anyway. It's just one of them medicines you've grew up to know is the "one".
Bloody love that stuff plus it's the best tasting thing ever! xx

CottonSock · 22/11/2019 18:30

I didn't take my dd to the gp when she was vomiting but I left message for a call back. when gp rang we were called straight in and then a&e. Vomiting or not, sick kids need treating. Gp told me not to worry about it . We were put in isolation on children's ward, but she'd been in a&e 8 hours, probably infecting everyone! Not much I could do about it.
