AIBU to book a doctors appointment over my eyebrows?

Not an AIBU, but I figured it would get the most responses on here. So a bit of a random problem, but I’m OBSESSED with playing with my eye brows. It started as a comfort thing when I was little and I used to love the feel of my brows as they were thick. Now I’m an adult I like to twiddle them, especially when I’m tired. I do it constantly, even when driving and at work and it’s getting embarrassing. I don’t even realise I’m doing it until people point it out. I make my eyebrows sore sometimes but can’t stop doing it Sad I don’t know whether to book a doctors appointment as I admit it’s becoming a bit of an OCD.

has anything had anything similar? Thanks

Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy is enormously effective for this sort of thing.

Your GP is not likely to be able to refer you for this relatively minor need, but a private one is easy to find, if you can fund it.

butterflycookie For a person in my family we have had enormous improvement on finger peeling with a series of solution focussed hypnotherapy session.

I feel you, OP.

I used to compulsively pick at the skin around my nose, especially while I was driving (for some reason). Something that I discovered, by accident, that helped a lot, was holding a small item in my hand as I drove. I ended up with a plastic bottle lid.
The feeling of the plastic in my hand seemed to distract me, and having something to hold kept my hands sufficiently busy enough to not have a free hand to scratch at my face.

It helped a lot, and although I still pick, it's nowhere near as much as I did.

I have thrichotillomania and I have twisted and pulled out the hair on my head since I was a toddler. It gives me a weird sense of pleasure (not sexual!) And feels like a stress reliever. I get really worried about it as I'm quite thin on my scalp now but I can't seem to stop. I often wonder if I should go to the GP but I dont see what they could do. I like to pull the hair out and examine the route etc. I often imagine myself doing it as well. I hate that I do it and wish I could stop

I echo what others have said; self help would probably be the best thing for you. All the GP can do is refer you on to IAPT services and the waiting list is a years long in some areas.

Perhaps try CBT self help techniques? You can google them. It'll probably take a few tries before you find what works for you.
